The Seahawks released wide receiver Jerry Rice on Friday. Jim Steiner, the agent for the NFL's all-time leading receiver, said his client asked to be released. "We asked for his release, and obviously they want to accommodate him," Steiner told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Steiner added that Rice is still interested in returning for a 21st season if he can find the right situation. After joining the Seahawks in a mid-season trade with the Raiders, Rice had 25 receptions for 362 yards and three touchdowns.
"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

I think he wants to go back to the Niners for a final fling in red and gold.

Re: Seahawks: Rice release request granted
I'd have to agree, he most likely wants to retire a Whiner.
Of course maybe he doesn't want to retire a loser, which is what will happen if he goes to the Whiners and their 4-12 football team.
4-12?
Am I being to generous?

Re: Seahawks: Rice release request granted
There is a good chance that Rice could end up in Detroit IF he is willing to play for a bargain price. Rice could provide tutelage for the Lion's young receivers, and Mooch would probably welcome the reunion.
Rice a Ram?? NO WAY!!!!!
GO RAMMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, right... so he can then demand that Isaac Bruce give up #80?
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Rice will retire as a whiner, and the'll probably make a bronze statue of him,but I'd like to see him retire as a Raider.
