Did the Seahawks overpay again? BTW, where are they getting all this money from?Seahawks | Sharper Agrees to Five-year Deal - from www.KFFL.com

John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports the Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with free agent LB Jamie Sharper (Texans) on a five-year, $17.5 million deal that includes a $1.5 million signing bonus.

Re: Seahawks Sign Sharper
And now, a lesson in John Hadley style journalism...
About a week ago, when Sharper was released, I posted as follows:
Now, make no mistake - that was merely speculation based upon a rather obvious need that the Hawks have a LB. I had no inside information whatsoever.I bet the SheSquawks will make a big effort to get him.
Had I been John Hadley, I probably would have written something like:
"Word out of Seattle is that they are close to signing Jamie Sharper."
Had I been wrong, I would simply never mention the subject again.
When the Hawks actually did sign Sharper, though, I could then write - "See! You read it here first!"
On the serious side, this is a good signing for the Hawks at a good price. The problem for them, however, is that they are likely to lose their best LB, Chad Brown, after June 1 because he doesn't want to take a pay cut (at least, that's what I've read).
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Hmmm...Chad Brown? Wouldn't it be interesting to see him in horns.
Naaah.

Good signing for the 'Hawks. Wonder if Sharper is going to play on the inside or outside.

Re: Seahawks Sign Sharper
My question is: Is Sharper a better LB'er than Claiborne and/or Coakley?
not talking about salary cap, just talent.

Re: Seahawks Sign Sharper
To tell you the truth I'm not extremely impressed by Sharper. Then again I haven't seen him much in Houston, and he was overshadowed by Ray Lewis in Baltimore.
I really like what I've seen from Coakley, and I did observe Claiborne a few times at the college level at MLB, but it's hard to tell whether the transition to the pros will be successful.
Sharper is the bigger name, but I'd imagine they're all about the same talent wise, perhaps a slight edge goes to Sharper from outside opinions I've heard.
