Seahawks in trouble with the league?
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/footba...66_hawk17.html
While Pro Football Talk isn't the most reliable of sources, they claim that gifts of montetrary value not in the player's negotiated contract is a salary cap violation.WORKOUT WARRIORS: Veteran fullback Mack Strong, middle linebacker Niko Koutouvides, tight end Ryan Hannam and long-snapper J.P. Darche were presented Sony handi-cams after practice for their perfect attendance at the team's offseason conditioning program.
Koutouvides, a fourth-round draft choice last year, actually put in 12 extra days above the required number since the program started in March.
The rewards were the idea of Tim Ruskell, who has stressed increased participation in the offseason program since being hired as president of football operations in February.

Same thing happened to the RAMS after SBXXXIV. Georgia had a mini Lombardi created for each player, and the League deducted the cost from our salary cap. Fortunately, we had the room.

So 4 handi-cams would cost them about $1000 against the cap. No big deal IMO.

Re: Seahawks in trouble with the league?
They are going to have to cut "more of their best players"... because of the cost of 4 handicams?

Re: Seahawks in trouble with the league?
I know, what a idiotic team. i love having them as our whippping boys in our division. them and the fourywhiners. it's almost too easy. if not for the cardinals, we would be able to coast through the season at half speed. then turn it on for the playoffs.

Re: Seahawks in trouble with the league?
Which one of our best players have we had to cut? Are you talking about the team cancer Anthony Simmons...or the oft-injured and never on the playing field Chad Brown...or the over the hill Bobby Taylor, who would have been 4th or 5th on the depth chart this year...or the free agents we lost. If it was anybody other than who I have mentioned, then that person was a free agent and he was free to leave and negotiate with another team. All the free agents the Hawks lost were grossly over-paid by the team that picked them up. Lucas getting a deal worth 36 million is outrageous, he's only had one good year. Chike Okeafor's 8.5 sack total was aproduct of playing against Arizona (the team he now plays for) he had 6 of his 8.5 sacks against them. Huff, was barely a serviceable LB, and he wouldn't have been above #2 this year (being generous) and the Cardinals have him starting at OLB. So who did we have to cut?
You really think that you only challenge in this division is the Arizona Cardinal? Well then whatever you are tripping on, I want some. I can understand being a homer, that is expected, but to be delusional and not know you opponent, well that's just stupid.
And if you think that 4 handi-cams are going to get the Seahawks in trouble with the salary cap...well then I surely don't want to live in your world.
And besides this rumor came from PFW...it's probably bull anyway.

Nice reply....how witty of you. Probably took a lot of thought and intelligence to come up with that response....and it only took you 13 hours to think of it. I'm impressed.

Re: Seahawks in trouble with the league?
The salary cap is working out very well actually. It goes up every year and it's keeping things competitive for those that want to try. Getting rid of the cap would give us MLB of about 3 years ago and that would be incredibly boring to watch. It also hasn't hurt the "dynasties" that the media are always searching for either.

Re: Seahawks in trouble with the league?
I actually do fancy myself witty and intelligent. Thank you very much Mr. Utterblitz. I have had my username for several years, before I joined any of these message boards this was my name. I liked it, I thought it was pretty cool. Plus I have an complete dislike for vowels, but I thought that "rwkhrdr" looked funny so I decided to add the "a".
Now, about my tag line...have you ever seen "King of the Hill"...that is a line that Bobby Hill said to his dad..."Dad, can I put a gun rack on my bike"...Hank's reply "Son, do you know how long I've been waiting for you to ask." I thought that was pretty funny so I decided to use it. I used to use it on seahawks.net and I have changed it several times.
About the witty and intelligent, you should make your way over to seahawks.net and you will find out for yourself, and you will be able to draw your own conclusions.
