Seahawks | Warrick Reaches One-year Deal
Wed, 31 Aug 2005 15:14:41 -0700
ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports free agent WR Peter Warrick (Bengals) has reached a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks. The basic contract is worth $1.4 million, including a $500,000 signing bonus and a $900,000 base salary. He could make another $880,000 through incentives. With 30 receptions, he will earn $220,000, then an additional $220,000 each for 40, 50 and 60 receptions. It is also believed he will return punts for the team.

No I didn't want them to sign Warrick but I sure wish they could sign people to help out on special teams and someone to play SS

Re: Seahawks | Warrick Reaches One-year Deal
There are not a lot of teams signing players right now and I don’t see a lot of impact player type upgrades. I think the FO is always looking just not much there. They were active during the off-season. Its also getting close to the beginning of the season and at some point you need to look at the hand you have. I am not concerned as much about who we don’t have as much as trying to get the ones we do have in the right spots and playing well.

Re: Seahawks | Warrick Reaches One-year Deal
Neither Dexter Reid nor Antuan Edwards are starting strong safeties. Neither could even make it as a back-up in New England. That should tell you something.

If he could, we would have kept him last year.

Plus, keep in mind Edwards came in during the season last year and did okay, but was certainly nothing special. If we were going to depend on Edwards again, I think we should have got him signed to that contract in the spring so he could be here all camp. Bringing him in now would probably just result in the same marginal play as last year.

Ah Dexter Reid, Antuan Edwards,
I have to agree with the assessments by Nick and Hub. I think Edwards might be an adequate backup but I think we have better backups at FS then him (maybe not all but some). Also the Patriots have 6 safeties left on their roster that they think is better then him. I definitely think we can find a better starting option from within. I am not sure I would even sign the guy although I think he is an adequate backup because then you have to give up on someone that has been with us like Nick said since the beginning of camp that’s almost equally talented. As for Dexter Reid (2004 10 tackles, 4 solo) LOL I am sorry just my opinion but I don’t think so. I respect your opinion but I am not ready to phone
hone: the FO and get mad
at them because they are not making these type moves.

Re: Seahawks | Warrick Reaches One-year Deal
Look, I don't think signing Reid or Edwards would be horrible. In fact, I'd be pleased if they were added. But my point is let's not pretend these guys are starter material and we're just passing them up. Neither could make it as a back-up for the Pats. It's only because of our weaknesses and question marks that either would have a chance at starting for us, and both would probably have to compete for the job, meaning they're not significant upgrades at this point. As STLRAMSFAN said, we may be able to find a better starting option from within.
Now, if there are clear-cut talented starting players out there that would offer significant upgrades to our team that we're passing up, then it'd be something to complain about. But I don't think that's the case at this point.

Hey Nick, do you think there's any possibility that someone like Bobby Taylor could come in and play FS if Hawthorne and Atogwe struggle?
