Schefter says he will be available to play for any team that picks him up.

Shoot I'd put him at DE in the 4-3, let they guy put his hand in the ground and rush every play. He is definitely big enough, 260 plus, and was once upon a time oe of the most feared pass rushers in the league. Sure injuries have slowed him down, but if he passes a physical and Spags thinks he can contribute, I would be all for it.

Awful tantalizing name, but A) Would he even want to come here if a team like the Jets (Who play the 3-4 and are contenders) comes knocking, and B) Would he fit in our 4-3 as anything productive?

All in a nutshell. NO.
The guy's way past his prime (stats after '07 and injuries reflect on that). If he can't keep up with the 3-4 scheme he's used to, then I don't expect more in our 4-3. If the Jets pick 'em up, might as well call them the New York Charger rejects.

I find it hard to believe that he is truly "past his prime" at the ripe old age of 26. The possibility that he got off performance enhancers seems more likely, but considering how good he was, I'd be awfully tempted to make an offer. I don't know whether he's a fit for the scheme or fit to play at this point in general, but it probably is safe to say he'd have a heck of a lot more upside than anyone else currently available on the free agent market.

He's never been the same since the whole steroids thing and it looks like his body is a casualty. If he was still remotely close to the terror he used to be, I'd be all for it, but the last few years pretty much tell the story.

I know our D has been good, but what if we could pick this guy up? He's still got legs, isn't excessively old, and we don't have to deal for him. He's going to be a FA in a few weeks when his calf heals.

I think a veteran LB like him would be better than the current OLB we have. I say pay the guy 15-18 mill over 3 or 4 years and lets add to our pass rush.

He is a better fit in a 3-4 defense. but if we can get him in here for a good price, why not.

The more I think about it the more likely he will go to the Chiefs, Broncos, or goodness gracious, the Jets or the Steelers.

I think he will be motivated to show his old team in person that he can still be "Lights Out", so an AFC West 3-4 team would be perfect.

Or he can chase the ring and make two of the best defenses even better.

Of course, money trumps, so if Billy and Stan really want him, show him the Benjamins and bring a mighty fierce pass rush to the Lou.
