Steelers LB accused of pimping
I guess it's true...Pimpin ain't easy. :)
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A former Steelers linebacker accused of pimping was jailed in Pittsburgh on Friday on a fugitive warrant issued in Nevada.
Richard Seigler, who was on the Steelers practice squad, appeared in Pittsburgh night court and was arraigned early Friday, hours after he was released from the team.
Dave Lockett, a Steelers spokesman, said team officials were aware that there were charges pending against Seigler. He declined to comment further.
Seigler is facing three prostitution-related felonies, including pandering and living from the earnings of a prostitute.
Authorities accuse Seigler of persuading a woman to become a prostitute, paying for her plane ticket from Spokane, Wash., to Las Vegas, where she engaged in prostitution, and taking some or all of the earnings, according to a criminal complaint filed in Las Vegas Justice Court.
The complaint says the alleged crimes took place from Oct. 1 to Jan. 31. Authorities in Las Vegas were led to Seigler after an undercover sting operation at a hotel-casino resulted in the prostitution arrests of two women with ties to Seigler, according to the fugitive warrant.
Seigler surrendered to Allegheny County Sheriff's deputies and U.S. Marshals.
He was later released on $25,000 bail, according to a jail officials. It was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.
Prostitution is legal in some Nevada counties, but not in the Las Vegas area.
Seigler was a fourth-round draft choice by San Francisco in 2004 and played in seven games that season, making seven tackles. He was cut by Pittsburgh during training camp last season, but was added to the practice squad for the final two games of the season.
Seigler attended high school in Las Vegas and was a two-time team captain at Oregon State.
