SUPERBOWL- Why isn't played on Saturday?

Sunday evening is a killer for those of us that like to attend or throw Superbowl parties.

Re: SUPERBOWL- Why isn't played on Saturday?

1. Because pro football is a Sunday game during the regular season (leaving Saturday for college), it was natural to continue on in that vein. Originally, the game was played in the afternoon.

2. Super Bowl Saturday doesn't have the same ring to it.

3. Josh Miller would really rather not pick up anything as heavy as a football on a Saturday.

4. Broadcast networks love to use the Super Bowl as a lead-in for new Sunday night programming and specials.

5. 13 days of hype isn't quite enough build up to the big one.

6. The Sunday morning newspapers get prepped to early to have full coverage of a previous night's game.

7. The Rams lost the Super Bowl the last time it was of February 3. It's a bad date.

8. You actually go into work the day after the Super Bowl?!

Nope, Vacation day for this guy every year. Everyone that I work with knows to not even think of putting in for that day off.

Re: SUPERBOWL- Why isn't played on Saturday?

Super Sunday is a trade mark I believe; (I could be wrong), though it should be no later than a 2pm kick-off no matter where they play.

And I know it won't happen, but it would be very refreshing if they would do away with all the pre-game BS that starts a 8am; and Prince for half time? Please; how about going back to marching bands and cheerleaders for a change.

Re: SUPERBOWL- Why isn't played on Saturday?

I know some of the players aren't too fond of the... what is it... 45 minute halftime show? I say save all that stuff for after the game or something. Pre-game is fine as long as it doesn't start to run into the game (like Monday Night Football, starts at 7:30 but kickoff is after 7:45 half the time). Dump the halftime entertainment and go with something simple for a 15 minute halftime show.
