Tim Tebow’s NFL career is not over.
The New England Patriots will sign Tebow and have him at their minicamp that begins on Tuesday, as first reported by Ed Werder of ESPN.
Although the connection between Patriots coach Bill Belichick and Tebow’s old Florida coach Urban Meyer has led to talk in the past that the Patriots could be interested in giving Tebow a shot, the news still comes as a major surprise. In recent weeks most of the talk surrounding Tebow in the NFL has centered on the idea that Tebow was totally done in the NFL.
There’s still much we don’t know, including whether Tebow will have a shot to compete for the No. 2 quarterback job behind Tom Brady (it should go without saying that Tebow has no chance to start in New England), or whether the Patriots are more interested in taking a look at him at another position and as an occasional wildcat quarterback.
Glad to hear he is getting a chance somewhere. He seems like a nice enough guy...too bad it's the pats who he will be working with.
So, if Tebow never leaves the bench, and the Patriots win the Super Bowl, will the headline be:
"TEBOW WINS CHAMPIONSHIP"
The kid spells trouble. Even though it's the media circus that makes him look bad, he doesn't do anything to shut them up and allows them to spew whatever diarrhea comes out of their mouths. Should be interesting seeing that the Pats are usually a low profile team despite their success.
Looks like Tim has made a deal with the devil.:D
I think it's a good spot for Tebow. There won't be a media circus because there's not QB controversy and everyone can just accept that he is going there to run a few wildcat plays, and possibly compete for a back-up position. Billichick likes to use Woodhead and those types of guys in wildcat type plays, and Tebow adds more to those plays with the option of passing the ball.
But I don't think we will see much of Tebow on the field, a few key plays designed for certain defenses, probably in the red zone for the most part. Maybe once in a while a play where Tebow plays FB or TE. But mostly he will warm the bench behind Brady AND perhaps learn a thing or two on how to be a better NFL QB. Who knows, in 3 or 4 years maybe he's progressed and becomes the starter after Tom Brady retires or get's injured.
Am i the only person who geniunely believes that a team could do a lot worse than mould an offence around Tebow? With the emergence of the recent spread offense highlighting the skills of RG3, Wilson and Kaepernick, surely someone could put an offense in place like the Broncos did. Lets face it, the guy is a winner, he might not have ideal mechanics etc but he has shown that he can win in the league and with a stellar support cast surely some creative mind would love to try to build around him. I know id take him over Blaine Gabbert anyway...:D
Tebow will be cut before week 1. JMHO. I know a lot are projecting him as a TE project. That's a really difficult transition to make, especially at the NFL when people expect you to contribute immediately.
It would have been great if he'd gone somewhere with a legit chance of contributing in some capacity. The fact remains that he showed amazing potential in one season which has since been stifled for no good reason.
I am not a very religious person and people who fawn over their ism's I find can be more dangerous than good... But I trully do like Tim as a football player. Guess I see what Joe Willie and Steve Young see in the guy potential to be a incrediable QB. I like the idea he is working on his mechanics and getting fit and trim! I thought he looked a bit flabby before at times. I think he is not a TE, however a blocking and running FB on option plays he could be! But for my money he should be developed as a QB for the future. Sadly it is the Cheatriots who will benefit from this guys talents... Well good luck to Tim, hope he proves the doubters wrong and is the second coming of Steve Young would be fun to see him excell! IMHO-
Schefter says he won't play anywhere but QB. He's also third on their depth chart.
Not a bad 3rd QB since he has some experience and you know he has a solid work ethic.
Still, I wouldn't want him on my team.
