Byrd played for the Jets in the 90s. He shattered his neck after a vicious collision on a tackle because he put his head down. He was paralyzed from the neck down, and was told he'd never walk again.
Later, he shocked the world and did. I read his book "Rise and Walk," and thought it was great.

I agree... lots of players I enjoyed watching but I only named the top few that came to the immediate recall... I debated whether to include George Blanda also....
