The odds makers have the Seahawks as a 7 point favorite over the Carolina Panthers for this Sundays game.
The only advantage I see for the Seahawks is that they will be at home and have the 12th man on their side.
When you look at the rankings/stats for these two teams this game could be alot closer than the 7 points.
Seattle is ranked 29th on offense and 27th in the points scored category.
Carolina is ranked 14th overall on defense and 24th in the points allowed category.
Seattle's strength on offense is through the air. They rank 17th with 221.4 ypg.
Carolina is ranked 7th against the pass allowing 205.6 ypg.
Carolina's strength on offense is on the ground. They rank 22nd with 101.4 ypg.
Seattle had been one of the better run stopping defenses until Red Bryant (DT) went down. Bryant went down sometime during week 8 against the Raiders.
Since Bryant's season ending injury the Seahawks have fallen to the league worst (rank 32) against the run. Allowing an average of 172 yards on the ground per game.
Carolina is weak in the passing game and will run, run and run some more when they have the ball.
Seattle is dead last running the ball so they will be trying to make things happen through the air against again the 7th ranked pass defense in the NFL.
So again, based on the info above I'm calling for the UPSET of the week.
Hey! I can dream can't I?
Re: Upset special!
Don't forget. Carolina just signed Keith Null!!! So they got that going for them.
Seriously I wish Carolina and Null the best.
