Vick, Eagles agree to 2-year deal
    By Chris Mortensen
    ESPN.com

Quarterback Michael Vick has signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, his agent, Joel Segal, confirmed to ESPN.com.

Vick arrived in Philadelphia Tuesday morning and remained there Wednesday evening. The Eagles will hold a news conference on Thursday morning to announce his signing.

Vick was the No. 1 draft pick in 2001, and once the highest-paid player in football. But he has not played since 2006 when his career came tumbling down. He was convicted in August 2007 of conspiracy and running a dogfighting operation, sentenced to 23 months in federal prison and suspended indefinitely by the NFL.

But after serving his time and being released from home confinement July 20, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell conditionally lifted Vick's suspension, allowing him to sign with a team.

The Eagles travel to meet Vick's former team, the Atlanta Falcons, in Week 13 on Dec. 6.

If Eagles fans will boo Santa Claus, I wonder what they're gonna do to Vick!

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Kolb as the backup. I think its a good signing for them. Pretty low risk at 1.6 mill in year one, club option at 5.2 million in year 2, he gives them another weapon and a decent backup in their system for mcnabb. They are shooting to win it all now. Vet team, they can handle the distraction.

    Or to animal rights activists.

Vick definitely needs to think twice before he flips off the Philly faithful.

This is going to be very interesting to watch. Let the circus begin!

You said it Mike... let the circus begin! In my opinion, McNabb is feeling ok, because his job is safe. It's the 2nd QB that has to be thinking WTH? The real question is what exactly they're thinking they can use Vick for. I figure that it's another attempt to try to reduce the workload of Westbrook. Everyone knows that he's going to miss a game or two so maybe this is an attempt to try to keep Westbrook healthy for all 16 games in addition to bringing in a guy who can threaten in the passing game as well in some "Eaglecat" packages.

At the end of the day, you have to know that Andy Reid knows what he's doing, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Plus I'm just glad that he's not on the Rams.

The eagles is a good place for him to be. McNabb is in favor of giving him a second chance and the fan base is solid. The fans are not going to run off because Vick brings some negative attention with him. If he plays well, they will support him.

I'm glad Vick did not sign with Rams, perhaps we can ship little to philly. I believe in 2nd chances but just don't want them on my team. Vick was an IDIOT to risk his career/money/freedom....IDIOT !

I would have been fine if the rams signed Vick, but obviously lots of fans would have had issues with it.

I understand. I think alot has to do with how you feel about the crime. I own 2 dogs and have no love for anyone that would hurt my dogs. I'm sorry but care about my dogs more than some family members, that just me. Some people have no problem with drink and drive, i lost a fiancee to a drunk driver in 1996. I have no pitty for anyone that drinks and drive. That's me.

I have two dogs also and one of mine is a pit mix. I work in animal rescue and I see the large number of pits rolling through, probably as a result of lots of dog fighting. I am hoping that this case with Vick will discourage dog fighting and less dogs will have to be part of that life style.

I am sorry that you lost your fiancee to a drunk driving accident. That is horrible. I can understand your dislike for Leonard Little.

Forgiveness is a difficult thing. Sometimes good can come out of bad situations.

Re: Vick confirmed to sign with Eagles

Regardless who picked up VICK, its a bone head decision. You tick off a lot of your fan base...you take up a roaster spot with no idea when the guy can play...You risk alienating part of your team...make some of your sponsors nervious...gee is there any pluses yet?

At best, when Vick can play, is on special situations. The idea that it will throw defenses into confusion. Not really, teams will game plan for a lot of options and place a bend but do not break scheme against the Eagles. The only real use for VICk is short goal line yardage situation whee he can be an asset. But then you can get that by placing yoru Biggest guy in the back field and calling a tackle elligable play--NO brainer there.

Granted of all the teams Vick could contribute--Philly was one of them--but Carolina could have used him more
