Will the Hawks have super Bowl hang over?
With the lost in the SB, will the Hawks be in a funk next year? Will they slip in the standing due to the hang over that happens to most teams after losing in the biggest game or will there be no effect on this team they are just too good?

Re: Will the Hawks have super Bowl hang over?
Excellent question, tough to say. The hawks have some roster issues right now. What do they do with alexander, hutchinson and bernard for starters. They are in good shape cap wise (21 million or so to spend) and are probably in a position if they choose to do so to sign their guys and go after a corner, which is what their fans seem to believe that they really need (i think that they need serious receiver help)
To me, funk aside, the real issue is how lucky do you get with injuries. The hawks had some injuries, quite a few in fact this year, but arguably, not to their most critical guys. If hasselbeck gets hurt next year, funk will have nothing to do with it but they will struggle.

Re: Will the Hawks have super Bowl hang over?
Along these lines, I think that Mike Holmgren is doing his team a disservice by focusing on the officiating. I don't think that the "we're victims" concept is good for their future (i.e. See the Rams 2002 season).
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Will the Hawks have super Bowl hang over?
We know that once you become a “team to beat” that every team you play will be up for you. Your FA’s just got more expensive to retain, due to the desperate teams out there that will over pay for your players. See. Price tag on Az to the Lions and has moved on. Your schedule the following year is always tough. Your off season is shorter due to playing extra games, less time to recover ect. Your draft picks, not just in the first round but every round will be last. And the time to think about what could have been, starts to creep in, as most these guys know that will be there one shot at it. I would say it all adds up to the start of a down hill slide for the Hawks.
They are going to have to show they can sign all these guys and add some players at WR that can make the big plays under pressure. This still seemed to be the downfall dropped balls in the clutch. Time will tell but it’s going to be up hill for them from here. Plus we are coming back to take what is ours the WEST!Last edited by Rambos; -02-07-2006 at 01:32 PM.

Re: Will the Hawks have super Bowl hang over?
In a word: Yes. Hasselback said in closing at their rally, "We'll see you in September." Not we'll be back. They all looked and sounded deflated (understandably so). I think that with the SB loss and the loss of some key FAs, this team will be good next year but not as much as this year. Everytime that a call goes against them next year, they'll say here we go again and fold. That is what happens when you play the victim role.

Re: Will the Hawks have super Bowl hang over?
Good question Rambos. Yes, they probably will -- yesterday's comment by Coach Holmgren in Seattle regarding the men in stripes, even if based on a "casual and kidding" tenor (the kind of remark that usually is followed by a "...seriously, though..."), is detrimental to the players in general.
That is, to the team in general.Last edited by RealRam; -02-07-2006 at 05:43 PM.

Re: Will the Hawks have super Bowl hang over?
there is no way seattle is going to avoid superbowl hangover, and its not even because of the trend. They hav e issues with Alexander, hes gonna demand a lot of money as a FA, etc. and seattle's office will be in turmoil much like how the rams were dysfunctional with the whole martz vs. turley thing. I can't wait until the Hawks falter and the Rams will once again regain posession of the NFC West. Its looking good

You won't see the Seahawks or the Steelers make it to the conference championship next year.
