Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs OL Willie Roaf, one of the league's premier offensive linemen, has decided to retire from football after 13 seasons. While he was adamant about his desire to play early in the offseason, lingering injuries to his hamstring and knee led to Roaf's decision to retire.
i think thats both starting tackles the Cheifs have had retire on them from last year now. This will hurt them alot.

Well, we knew the KC offense was aging. It's not looking good for them if they're going to be starting two inexperienced tackles and a 36-year-old immobile QB. This could be the last year before a total collapse for that offense. Trent Green is 36; G Will Shields is 35; and WR Eddie Kennison, blocking TE Jason Dunn, and C Casey Weigmann are all 33.

I'm not surprised, I remember reading last year that he was saying that 05 would possibly be his last season.

True, but any time a guy announces in late July that he's retiring, it should be a surprise. When you come this far into the season, it's basically accepted that you're intending to play. So I guess I'm not surprised to hear he's retiring... I'm surprised to hear the announcement now.

Re: Willie Roaf retires
I was watching the nfl network a couple of days ago and Herm Edwards was interviewed. When Herm was asked about Willie Roaf retiring, Herm kind of sheepishly hinted that Willies retirement wasn't a done deal.
For whatever it's worth ?
