Man, this Warner guy is good. When did he play for the Rams?
Just a joke. Don't start anything.

Re: The Best of the Best: A Football Simulation (come join!)

Just to let you know, I didn't forget about this. It's just been rather hectic for me and I haven't had the time to sit down, sim the games, then type out the play by play. I'll probably get to it this weekend sometime.

GAME SUMMARY
The first quarter of the game was fairly quiet, but Washington clearly won the possession battle with their six-minute drive from their own 23-yard line which resulted in a one yard touchdown pass from Theismann to Monk. The Rams were unable to really sustain a drive, going three and out on three possessions in the first quarter. When the Redskins did turn the ball over in the second half off of a fumble by Riggins, Everett and the Rams couldn’t make anything happen. Inside the Redskins red-zone to start the drive, Everett was intercepted on the fourth play of the drive.

Inefficiency marked both teams throughout the second quarter as a battle of punters ensued, until the final seconds of the half when Mike Piel recovers a fumble in Redskins territory and the Rams are able to put some points on the board with a long field goal before they head to the locker room. Coming out in the third quarter, the Rams looked rejuvenated. Everett hit a number of great deep passes as he drove the Rams toward their first touchdown of the day. Washington still can’t get off the ground in the second half, which allows the Rams to once again throw the ball down the field this time for a field goal, a drive which was highlighted by a huge 33-yard pass to Holohan.

Demoralized, the Redskins almost had even more wind sucked out of them when Joe Washington went down after a 15-yard catch. He turned out to be okay, but the Redskins weren’t: their drive stalled. Fortunately, the Rams seemed to have run out of steam and Washington got the ball back and in record time scored a touchdown. Los Angeles responds with a field goal to once again take the lead, showing that they won’t surrender this game without a fight. But Theismann and the Redskins have something else in mind. From their own 20-yard line, a few clutch throws by Theismann and great runs by Riggins help the Redskins get another touchdown and regain the lead. To top it off, the Redskins go for the two-point conversion and are successful! With less than two minutes to go, the Rams need a successful drive to stay in this game… but they can’t deliver! Everett is intercepted by Liebenstein! The Redskins try to run down the clock, but the Rams have all their timeouts and force a punt. With three seconds left, Everett tries a bomb down the field, but it’s picked off by McDaniel and the game is over!

GAME SUMMARY
Los Angeles comes out swing on St. Louis’s first drive with an unnecessary roughness penalty – it looks like the Rams are going to really play the Rams tough. But Warner stands in the pocket under pressure and delivers pass after pass, driving the Rams down field to their first points of the day, a 20-yard field goal by Jeff Wilkins. Los Angeles can’t do anything on the following drive and give St. Louis the ball back, but the Rams sputter as Los Angeles blitzes on nearly every down, taking Warner out of rhythm. On the following drive, Los Angeles turns the ball over on their first play! Cullen Bryant fumbles after catching a pass from Pat Haden and the St. Louis Rams get the ball inside the Los Angeles red zone. But St. Louis can’t move the chains and they’re forced to take their second field goal of the game.

After exchanging a few unsuccessful drives, the St. Louis Rams get the ball back in the second quarter near midfield and begin working some magic. With some short swing passes to the sidelines and some nice running by Marshall Faulk, the Rams enter Los Angeles’ red zone and come away with a beautiful touchdown pass from Warner to Bruce! The Rams are now up by nearly two touchdowns over Los Angeles, who can’t do anything on their next drive and again are forced to punt. The Rams respond with Warner’s blazing arm, hitting receivers all over the field as he helps the Rams get another field goal.

Los Angeles knows they need to do something, and they respond well. The running game helps them get to around midfield, and Pat Haden his a 21-yard strike to Preston Dennard to put them in St. Louis territory. But as Haden goes for the money down the middle of the field, Mike Jones jumps in front of the ball for the interception. With slightly over a minute left, St. Louis tries their own last second hurrah but Warner is intercepted by Elmendorf! On Los Angeles’ next drive, Haden is intercepted again, this time by Fletcher! Warner tries a hail mary at the end of the half, but it’s broken up, and the St. Louis Rams entire halftime with a comfortable lead.

But that would all change in the second half. Los Angeles comes out and scores a huge touchdown on a long bomb in three minutes, putting them on the board for the first time today. On the following drive, Kurt Warner is intercepted at his own 24-yard line, and Los Angeles starts in St. Louis’ red zone. They come away with another touchdown, this time an end around to Dennard! All of a sudden, the Los Angeles Rams are back in this game! The score is tied after two touchdowns and two two-point conversions! With Warner reeling from his turnovers, St. Louis goes with the bread and butter and hands off to Faulk, who gets them in position for another three points after a long drive. The third quarter ends with two failed drives from both teams, as the defenses begin turning things up a notch.

Los Angeles comes out slinging in the fourth quarter, hitting a near 40-yard bomb to Nelson, which puts them in position for another touchdown! Los Angeles takes the lead! But St. Louis has nearly the entire quarter to come back. Can they do it? Not on their first drive, but their second yields three points as Faulk continues to work the unthinkable on the field, dodging left and right. With over seven minutes left, Los Angeles works their hardest to run out the clock. They manage to keep the ball until the two-minute warning, but missed a 53-yard field goal. Warner and the Rams come back onto the field for what could be the game-winning drive, but it wasn’t in the cards. On their first play of the two-minute offense, Warner is off the mark and is picked off for the third time! Los Angeles runs out the clock and comes away with a huge victory!

Re: The Best of the Best: The Quarter Finals

After four heated match-ups, the Quarter Final round looks like this....

-'75 Rams vs. '01 Rams
-'82 Redskins vs. '79 Rams

Three Ram teams... will one of them prove to be the best ever?

Whoah! I wouldn't have guessed that outcome. But why was Haden playing instead of Ferragamo? I guess it was early in the season.

Trash Talk continued.....

LMAO....whatever!!!

I ran the sim numerous times, with the '79 rams as the home team and the '99 rams as the visitor, the '79 team wins about every third time. With the '99 team as home and the '79 team as visitor, which is how this appears, I had to sim it 7 times to get the '79 team to come out on top. Wow what a surprise.....NOT.

I can just about guess who wins this thing....get ready to loft your trophy Wraith....LMAO!!!

Trash talk complete....
