Clan Ram draft results

Well the draft was held last night for the Blue league. Did the Gold league draft last night also?

Was anybody really pleased with their results?

I normally don't pay much attention to the draft and I think I know why now. This year I actually paid more attention to the draft and picked favorites. The draft comes along and guess what? My favorites are favorites for the other teams too and other people drafted them. I am sort of sad right now because I have no returning players on the Hammerheads and I will miss my players from last year.

I guess the good thing about fantasy football is that I learn about new players each year when they end up on my team.

I did not research enough and I made a few bad, and/or risky picks. This can be corrected though, and I will be adjusting my team throughout the season.

Good luck to both leagues.....the fantasy season is about to begin.

Re: Clan Ram draft results

Very good team Nick....just curious....I notice you don't have any TE's. In the gold league, it is a required position on the week to week roster. Also, what do you do when your only kicker is on bye?

Re: Clan Ram draft results

I have Todd Heap, just forgot to list him.

As for the kicker issue, I'll probably just pick someone up that week.

Re: Clan Ram draft results

Here's my team in the Gold League. I drafted 4th in the first round. This is in order of draft:

Payton Manning - QB - Ind
M. Harrison - WR - Ind
T. Houshmandzadeh - WR - Cin
R. Smith - WR - Den
M. Bell - RB - Den
L. Maroney - RB - NE
L. Smith - TE- Phi
N. Burleson - WR - Sea
F. Gore - RB - SF
D. Williams - RB - Car
B. Leftwich - QB - Jac
J. Klopfenstein - TE - StL
D. Akers - K - Phi
Atlanta - Defense
J. Reed - K - Pit

Got some talent. We'll see how it goes. Expect to make some trades and pick ups along the way. Who in the Blue League is going to meet me in the Super Bowl?

Not bad. The Manning/Harrison hook up should serve you well most of the season. I'd be dealing for some help at RB though. The only legit starter you've got is Frank Gore. Williams & Maroney aren't going to get a large portion of carries this year, IMO, unless someone gets injured, and how much Bell actually gets in Denver's committee is questionable.

Yeh....kind of got caught up picking number 4....had to take P. Manning at that point since the blue chip RB's were gone...when it came back around I chose to make the hook up with Harrison in the second. After that, just trying to catch the diamond in the rough that seems to appear each year. I guess I'll just have to rely on my charm to get someone to trade with me!

You can do well even if the computer drafts your team, as long as you make adjustments. You can start making changes now, even though there is a time delay, as they put the new players on waivers.

They show you the points for your benched players, but the points don't count in your game. It will help you decide who to start and make you mad when you pick the wrong ones.

Good luck.

Re: Clan Ram draft results

This was probably the riskiest team I've ever drafted in my 5 years of playing. There are lots of boom or bust-type players. This could be an up-and-down season, but I like all the players and think everything will come together in the end. My roster will definitely change a lot throughout the season. I'm a hound dog for sleepers.

QB Tom Brady
QB Michael Vick
RB Ronnie Brown (have him on all three of my squads this year)
RB Julius Jones
RB Mike Bell
RB Joseph Addai
RB Brandon Jacobs
RB Maurice Jones-Drew
WR Terrell Owens
WR Roy Williams
WR Isaac Bruce
WR Doug Gabriel
TE Dallas Clark
K Jeff Wilkins
DEF Jacksonville Jaguars

60 total yards, 2 touchdowns, 18 fantasy points. Not too shabby - I'd take that every week. After Culpepper's performance, they will be focused on getting the running game established early from here on out and those yards will increase. Something that surprised me was how much they used Ronnie in the passing game. That's always a plus.
