Ben Mauk turned loses final eligibilty appeal
CINCINNATI -- Former Cincinnati quarterback Ben Mauk has lost his final appeal to the NCAA for more playing time.
Mauk was turned down Wednesday by the NCAA's reinstatement committee, the last available step in his eligibility appeals process. It was the fifth time that he had been turned down by the NCAA staff or its reinstatement committee.
Mauk contended that injuries cost him playing time at Wake Forest, so he should get one more season at Cincinnati. The committee, which heard his appeal by phone last Thursday, concluded there was no proof that Mauk had to redshirt his freshman season at Wake Forest because of injury.

I'm a fan of Cincy and this kid. They call him the bionic man for all the surgeries he had to haveon his shoulder. Great story that he was able to come back. That said, I don't agree with the NCAA on this one. They won't let a kid play that gave everything he had to college football, but let recruiting violations go every year, but this they had to take a hard stance on.
