Blazers Continue Marshall Preparations

UAB takes on Thundering Herd Saturday in Huntington

Oct. 12, 2005

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team practiced in helmets and shoulder pads for about two hours Wednesday afternoon as the Blazers continue constructing their gameplan for Saturday's game at Marshall. UAB head coach Watson Brown believes the Thundering Herd gameplan is similar to the Blazers' past few opponents' style of play.

"We're into the offenses now that spread out the defense more," said Brown. "They run and pass out of the spread sets and hopefully we'll be better at defending it this week. They have the second-best defense in our league, so it will be a big challenge. We're going to need to play better to score points on their defense."

UAB (3-2, 1-1 C-USA) looks to bounce back from a heartbreaking, 28-27 loss to SMU last Saturday at Legion Field in the Blazers' homecoming game. The Thundering Herd (2-3, 1-1 C-USA) is also coming off a 41-14 loss to third-ranked Virginia Tech Saturday in Blacksburg, Va. Saturday's game will mark the first-ever meeting between UAB and Marshall on the gridiron.

Saturday's matchup kicks off at 5:00 p.m. ET and will be televised on the CSTV Football Nation on i (formerly PAX). It will also be carried live on the ISP Blazer Sports Network on the flagship station, WYDE-FM 101.1.
