Blazers Look To Bounce Back At Marshall Saturday

UAB and Thundering Herd meeting for first time

Oct. 15, 2005

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ------ It's been a week since the UAB football team saw visiting SMU score on the game's final play from scrimmage to snatch away a 28-27 win from the Blazers at Legion Field.

On Saturday, UAB will look to bounce back into the win column as the Blazers take on Conference USA foe Marshall in Huntington, W.Va. This will be the first meeting between the schools and will be UAB's third consecutive contest against a first-team C-USA opponent.

The Blazers (3-2, 1-1) are just a game behind UCF in the conference's East Division standings so a win Saturday would boost UAB as the race continues to the C-USA championship game set for Dec. 3.

Marshall is coming off a loss at Virginia Tech last week but two weeks ago, rallied for a 16-13 overtime win over the same SMU team that defeated UAB last Saturday.

UAB quarterback Darrell Hackney went over the 8,000-yard mark in career passing yards against the Mustangs to become the eighth player in Conference USA history to achieve that feat.

Kickoff is set for 5:15 p.m. ET at Joan C. Edwards Stadium on the Marshall campus. The contest and will be televised by CSTV Football Nation on i (formerly PAX). It will also be carried live on the ISP Blazer Sports Network on the flagship station, WYDE-FM 101.1.
