Hurricane senior named special teams player of the week

Sept. 12, 2005

Irving, Texas - University of Tulsa placekicker Brad DeVault (Sapulpa, Okla.) was selected as the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced today.

DeVault, a 6'0" senior, converted all three of his field goal attempts last week in Tulsa's 31-15 loss at Oklahoma, including a career-long 52-yarder. In his career, DeVault has now connected on 10-of-16 field goals from 40+ yards.

His 52-yard field goal is the ninth longest in school history, and is the longest for the Hurricane since 1952 when James Anderson connected on a 52-yard field goal against Utah.

His other field goals on the day were from 22 and 19 yards. He currently ranks 11th nationally in field goals this year by converting 4-of-5.

DeVault moved up to sixth place on the school's career field goals list with 32 field goals, and needs three more to move into fifth place. He also ranks eighth on Tulsa's all-time scoring chart with 190 career points on 32 field goals and 94 PATs.
