Frank Gore (UM) Declares for Draft
Miami RB Frank Gore decided to go into the draft this year. While he is not likely to be much better than a mid round pick, you have to be rooting for this guy.
As a Freshman, he looked like he was already good enough to play in the NFL. Then, in each of the next two years, he tore his ACL (each knee). He rehabbed and made it back to play this year, racking up 945 yards.
Certainly, nobody could blame Gore for taking his shot now. While one more year in college would no doubt cause his stock to rise, one more injury would probably end his chances.
Hopefully, some team will give him a chance. If he can spend his rookie year on an NFL team that does not need him to do much, he can continue strengthening his knees and getting back to the level he showed before his injuries. Heck, I'd be fine seeing him sitting on the Rams' bench next year as the future backup to Steven Jackson.
Good luck to a kid with a lot of heart.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!
