Yeah, you heard right.
WVU versus VA Tech, in Morgantown. My girlfriend's an assistant section leader in the WVU Marching Band. For pre-game, the band lines up in two tunnels in the stadium and then, when it's time, rushes out of those two tunnels onto the field. One of the tunnels is used by the Mountaineers, the other by the visitor. The band is specifically forbidden from being in the visiting team's tunnel at certain points because of behavior problems that occurred in the past, ironically enough against VA Tech.
So anyways, my girlfriend's section is in the visiting tunnel, and it's a couple minutes before they run out. After they run out, they'll play as the Mountaineers run out, and shortly after, the Hokies will run out. So it's a couple minutes before pre-game, and they're in the tunnel with the VA Tech players. Well, the band is prohibited from saying anything bad to the visiting team, but can chant "Let's go Mountaineers!" and other decent things. My girl, being the die hard gamer she is, decided to start a "Beat your Hokie!" chant in the tunnel.
Jimmy Williams, who will perhaps be the first cornerback taken in this coming NFL Draft and I know has been looked at by a number of fans as a potential Ram pick should we pick high enough, promptly turns to my girlfriend, looks right at her, extends his arm, and let's a middle finger explode. My girlfriend's jaw dropped, and Williams walked away from her still facing in her direction, finger in the air.
Thought I'd share the story.
