McCullough, Ervin Earn BIG EAST Honors

Duo Garners Two League Player of the Week Awards

Oct. 31, 2005

CINCINNATI, Ohio - University of Cincinnati linebacker Kevin McCullough and punter Chet Ervin earned BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week honors for their performances in the Bearcats' 22-16 win over Syracuse.

McCullough, who scooped up a fumble and returned it 17 yards for what proved to be the game-winning touchdown early in the fourth quarter, was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. The 6-2, 240-pound junior from Hudson, Ohio had five tackles, 1.5 sacks and two tackles for loss in the victory.

Ervin, a senior from Sulphur, Ky., punted six times for a 46.0 average. He placed four of his punts inside the Syracuse 20, twice putting the Orange on their 1-yard line.

Adam Roberts, a senior defensive end, earned BIG EAST Honor Roll recognition. He had three tackles for loss and four total tackles.

The Bearcats are off this week before returning to action on Wednesday, Nov. 9 against No. 17-ranked and BIG EAST Conference leader West Virginia. Game time at Nippert Stadium is 7:30 p.m.
