Edinboro, Pa. - Josh Kniess rushed for 120 yards, the best individual effort against Edinboro's stingy defense so far this season, but it was not enough as The Rock fell to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival Edinboro 24-7.
Turnovers and special teams proved costly for The Rock, which coughed up five fumbles and had three interceptions in the game and also had a missed field goal and a punt blocked.
The loss drops The Rock to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in PSAC-West action this season.
Along with 120 yards rushing, Kniess had 68 yards on returns. Quarterback Nate Crookshank finished the game with 161 yards in the air on 10 of 27 passing, while Colin Golden hauled in six catches for 105 receiving yards.
The Rock's defense held the hosts, who were ranked seventh in the region coming into the game, to only seven points. Leading the defensive efforts were Jerome Whiting with nine tackles and Brandon Rakszawski with six tackes.
The Rock looks to rebound next weekend when it plays it's final home game of the season against Shippensburg in a PSAC "crossover" game. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
