KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee left tackle Michael Munoz had surgery Friday on his right shoulder to repair a torn rotator cuff muscle.
Munoz had not been expected to play in Saturday's SEC championship game against No. 3 Auburn in Atlanta because of his sore shoulder, which he hurt on Nov. 20 in a victory against Vanderbilt.
"Michael and his family are hopeful for a return late in the spring to pursue his NFL career," Vols head trainer Keith Clements said.
Munoz is the son of Hall of Fame lineman Anthony Munoz. The two-time captain finished his Tennessee career starting all 46 games he played.
