Baseball playoffs
Can't believe no one is talking about the playoffs, especially with the Cardinals being the number one team to beat.
So one of our middle relievers is hurt, you only use 3 starters anyway in a playoff series. Maybe 4 but rarely, just throw your 4th and 5th starter into middle relief and let it go. Especially with the lineup the Cardinals have. Their strength is up the middle though.

Re: Baseball playoffs
With it being 8-0 in the 6th, do you pull Carpenter to save his arm for later?

Re: Baseball playoffs
Absolutely. I pinch hit for him now. If the pen can't get 9 outs before they give up 8 runs, we got bigger problems.

Looks like LaRussa disagrees with me.

Re: Baseball playoffs
Well, he let Carpenter bat but still pulled him for Thompson.
Maybe he was saving his bench for later also....

Re: Baseball playoffs
The bullpen wasn't great, but at least the Cards had a big lead.
8-5 final....Cardinals up 1-0

Re: Baseball playoffs
Wow, did anyone else see how the White Sox JUMPED all over Boston? You would have thought Podesnik was all world or something.
Too bad about Colon and his back. Yankees jumped up to a 4-0 lead on Bartolo because he really couldn't bend his back to throw.
