I can't really feel too bad for the guy. People dive for balls all the time. It looked to me like he was just going for the ball and slipped. Perhaps he should have checked on the kid after, but it looked like an accident to me.

Here's a related story. Umteen years ago I was at an Angels game, sitting three rows behind first base chatting with my friend. A foul ball came toward me, hit the steps, knocked the beer out of my hand, and continued up a few rows. Not only did I not get a ball, but I lost 7 bucks. Man I hate loosing a beer.
