Jake Brown falls 40+ feet & walks away

It is amazing that this fall did not seriously injure or kill this young man.

To take a fall like that and then gather himself together and walk away...

Really makes the soccer players who are carry on as if they are dying only to resume playing look that much more like wimps.

Re: Jake Brown falls 40+ feet & walks away

Brown is one tough Aussie. Watching his shoes explode off on impact was absolutely frightening. The fact that he walked away with "ONLY" a broken wrist, lung contusion and bruised liver was incredible enough, but he was also competing with a pre-existing cracked vertebrae. Extreme athletes are true warriors.

To add insult to injury, Brown was in Gold medal position after the fall, only to lose it on the last run of the day to Bob Burnquist.

I saw that, oh man I thought it was a miracle the dude was able to get up after that. Those guys get injured all the time, many much worse injuries than that, and they still come back.

Even with the body armor they wear I was surprised he had that few injuries...amazing.

There are made of tough stuff fer sure. I love watching them.

Jake Brown spent a lot of energy working through his fall so that he could land the right way to not get hurt. I am glad he was ok. His shoes popping off is wild.

Saw that on the late night replay the day it happened. I could have sworn he broke his ankles or his pelvis or even his neck. He was really very lucky to walk away from that huge fall.

No doubt. In fact, most guys won't even enter the Skate Big Air because it's too imtimidating, so you have to have a balls to the wall mentality just to compete, let alone make a run after seeing a horrific fall that could have killed a competitor. But that's exactly what that next guy, Bob Burnquist, did. He also just happened to have a lights out run that won him the gold medal. You gotta love the human drama of athletic competition.

The way I heard it on ESPN radio was Burnquist was not going to take his next turn but when Brown stood up and walked off he did indeed take his turn and then went to be with Burnquist.
