Re: Official FIFA World Cup 2006 thread

I'll give you Italy out of Group E but no way does the Czech Republic get past this U.S. squad.

The U.S. will be in the round of 16

Re: Official FIFA World Cup 2006 thread

The Czech Republic is one of the best soccer nations in the world, far better than the U.S.

The only reason the U.S. is so high on Fifa rankings is because they play about 20 friendlies a year against teams like Costa Rica and Columbia thay have the easiest route into the World Cup apart from Australia

England will be the biggest busts in this years tournament, without Rooney,Stevie G and the others will not be able to win games by themselves even though I hate Rooney(as a Liverpool fan)he is a great player and a pivotal part of their hopes of winning even at 70,80% he wont be the same player

This years players to watch:Milan Baros(Czech Republic)and Lionel Messi(Argentina)

Wildcard:Theo Wallcott(England)

Re: Official FIFA World Cup 2006 thread

Trinidad and Tobago has a solid team. They are an underdog to watch out for.

Re: Official FIFA World Cup 2006 thread

Czech Republic is ranked second in the new FIFA rankings. Group E is a killer group. I still think the USA can advance.

Re: Official FIFA World Cup 2006 thread

I think England is capable of winning it with some luck. Rooney's recovery and Owen's form after being out for so long will have everything to do with the team's chances. I'd definitely give a couple other teams better odds, but I still think they have a shot. Not too long ago Pele said he figured the English team had the best chance after Brazil.

Re: Official FIFA World Cup 2006 thread

We have a shot, but less of one if either Rooney or Owen is out. That said, Gerard and Lampard can get forward and score so all is not lost.

Quarter finals, only to be knocked out by another freak occurrence.

Soemtimes I wish we could just get beat. Hand's of God, deflected freekicks, and fluky free kicks are hard to take.
