Tyler Hansbrough Update

All of the Missouri hoop fans know who Tyler is. He's from my hometown, and I know his dad. From everyone I've talked to at the Bluff, it looks like it's down to UNC or Mizzou.

Here's an update from UNC.....

Re: Tyler Hansbrough Update

I know there's still some talk around about him going to Kansas. If a home-state boy goes to the Jayhawks, I swear my head will explode!

But if you're saying news around the Bluff is UNC or 'Zou, that's good enough for me.

Re: Tyler Hansbrough Update

This is from CBS Sporsline Gregg Doyle about Tyler. A little harsh on the kid, but I don't think it will bother Tyler.

Tyler Hansbrough: The 6-foot-9 power forward from Poplar Bluff, Mo., has ascended to the class of 2005's No. 1 ranking, according to many analysts. He's a nice player and all that, but ... what? If he's the best player in the class of 2005, the class of 2005 is even worse than people say. Luckily for everyone else, Hansbrough isn't the class' best player. Or the best power forward. In fact, there were two power forwards at Nike who were better.

Re: Tyler Hansbrough Update

Tyler writes a quick journal for the Daily American Republic, the local paper in Poplar Bluff. Here's his latest journal.

http://www.darnews.com/articles/2004...s/sports10.txt

I'm on the road again this week at the AAU Super Showcase at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. We just finished pool play and are 3-0 going into Saturday night's tournament.

I spent Monday and Tuesday working out in Poplar Bluff. We flew to Orlando on Wednesday, registered Thursday and began playing Friday. We started the tournament by beating the Tennessee Travelers, then won against a team from New Jersey that had a pair of 7-footers. Just an hour ago, we beat an Illinois team.

Our team is playing better and with more intensity compared to last week.

Among my St. Louis Eagles teammates are Alex Tyus from Hazelwood Central and Ashton Farmer from Charleston. I've enjoyed playing with them. It's been fun getting to know people you play against during the high school season. Personally, I'm trying to work on my outside skills and playing the perimeter. I've really concentrated on rebounding and defense.

I've decided not to set a timetable for my decision. I want to relax and take my time with it, and get a better feel for the colleges. I'm still talking to the coaches, but I'm going to take my time with it.

I'll be back home most of next week until we leave for another AAU tournament Thursday or Friday in Kansas City.

Until next time,

Tyler

Tyler to UNC

Look for Tyler to hold a press conference today announcing his intention on attending the University of North Carolina.
