I think we should have taken Aundre Allison, Rufus Alexander, or Brandon Siler.

I like this pick quite a bit. We need depth on the interior line and someone to compete with Romberg, and Fry probably could have gone earlier. Fry is a very powerful player, very strong with good push in the run game. Good size as well. I was hoping we'd nab a center later after passing on Kalil, and we may have ended up getting someone that is a better fit for our blocking scheme.

No doubt, he is a good player and could have gone earlier. I just like Allison, Alexander, and Siler better. I was not factoring in our team needs.

He is not the most sound-blocking technician (he is still learning proper hand technique), but has the strength and hand punch to shock and jolt defenders with consistency. He is very quick firing off the ball to lock on to the 1 tech defender working inside, but outside of the short pull, he doesn't have the foot speed to be effective blocking in the second level. The good: He is a tough, nasty, smart, scrappy, blue-collar lineman who works well in a short area where he uses good power and leverage. He gives it his all from the snap to the whistle, and is very capable of quickly getting good position in his blocks and sustaining until the play is finished. Where do you think Carriker will be playing? He's our DT.

will he play C or does he project as a G? i imagine he joins the competition at C with Romberg and McCollum

I like this pick @139. Fry looked like the best short yardage run blocker on the board at the time. I like the words "solid initial punch to stun"... "a real mauler in the running game"... "versitile."
