That's what Carriker's for, says Linehan.

Unless you want Solai or Tyler too?

Re: 2007 NFL Draft Discussion Thread

I just got home from work and found out the Rams picked Adam Carriker - YES! - I am very pleased with this pick.

Carriker is a great value @13, perhaps the best defensive pick on the board at the time. I was worried the Whinners were going to take him before the Rams had a shot.

He's a big (6'6" 295), very strong, very quick (although not very fast), versatile DE that I'd like to see us possibly develop into a single slot DT. He would be a very fast DT. He has long strong arms and a very effective punch to keep blockers off him. He's great against the run as he uses his long arms to swallow up the runner, and he's a great pass rusher. With Little and Carriker on the line, pass protection schemes will likely have a very difficult time accounting for both players.

I know a lot of people wanted Branch. But work ethic, development, and health issues were a real concern with him. We already have Jimmy Kennedy to fill that role, lol. I'm so glad The Rams passed on him. Heck, he fell out of the first round, lol!

Well said. I'm becoming more and more elated with the Rams first day!

You can't convince me that we can start a rookie DE at DT with glover next to him and expect us to better against the run

A rookie DL, my friend. Carriker has the potential, and the size to play anywhere on the defensive line. He has optimum growth ability, too.

I hope you are right my friend about Carriker, but the 2nd round selection of a FB is crazy. I was hoping this was the year that the Rams would try to get players for the line both Offense and Defense. If we have a year like last and lose guys on the O-line we will be in trouble-How do we not take the best Center in the 2nd round?:x
