Re: 2007 NFL Mock Draft and FAs

Wow, Country, I'm proud of you!! Ya'll been doing some hard work on this and I like the direction you have the Rams going. My only questions are is R. Nelson a strong or free safety-type and is D. Harris a strong-side or weak side LBer? Also, I might be tempted to take R. Kalil instead of Inman, so he could play center as I think The Cog's best position is guard. Seems to me that the interior OL is in need of an infusion of youth and skill.

    1. Reggie Nelson has the body of a FS at 6'1" 200lbs. and he covers like a FS but he hits like a SS. HIs nickname is the "Eraser" he would start with Cahvous in my ideal world.

    2. David Harris is a 6'2" 250lbs. MLB for MIchigan and he plays downhill and hard.

    3. I would like to see the Rams draft a OG/OT to be a key backup in the 3rd round. I dod not like the idea of rookie starting at C.

Still prefer a DT somewhere in there. Not sure FA DT will do it.

Thanx for your answers to my questions; however, I would like to make the following comments:
1.) Er....we currently have a rookie starting at center, do you not think that The Cog is getting the job done? While I actually think he has, it's still my contention that OG is his best position.

2.) Not sure I agree with drafting OG/OT (or any position) on the first day to be essentially a backup. The Rams did just that this past draft with the selection of perennial backup (and bum) Dominic Byrd. I want first day picks to be pushing for starting time as quickly as possible.

Re: 2007 NFL Mock Draft and FAs

Major props for attempting a three round mock at this point of the year.

There are some disagreements I have with some of the picks overall in the mock in terms of value and destination (Jake Long @ 5, Leon Hall @ 19, Blades to Indy in the 1st), but I'll try and go down the line on the moves you've got us making.

DE Justin Smith signs with the St. Louis Rams.
DT Terdell Sands signs with the St. Louis Rams
I'm fine with Justin Smith, nice move. But I don't see a back-up from Oakland being the stud we need on the inside of our D-line, and you don't have us drafting one. So where's the significant improvement? We really need as much talent as possible on the inside of that line.

1[15] St. Louis [Minnesota]: S Reggie Nelson* [Florida]
Looks fine to me. Nelson is competing with Landry to be considered the best safety in this draft, and his stock is red hot right now. He'd be a nice addition to the secondary IMO, considering Atogwe has yet to lock down that free safety spot.

1[10] St. Louis: LB David Harris [Michigan]
I assume this is to move Witherspoon back outside? I'm fine with that.

1[10] St. Louis: OT Daniel Inman [Georgia]
1[15] St. Louis [Min]: DE Brian Robison [Texas]
I don't see either of these guys as first day prospects right now, so I don't like the value. Furthermore I don't really like Inman as a prospect because of his off the field issues. I believe he served a two game suspension this season. Thanks but no thanks.
