2009 1st Round Draft Standings
The worse team records.
1. Detroit 0-15
2. Rams 2-13
3. Chiefs 2-13
4. Bengals 3-11-1
5. Seattle 4-11
6. Oakland 4-11
7. Cleveland 4-11
I see the Rams losing the rest of the way. If that happens we should windup with one of the top three picks. I think Detroit has the number 1 pick wrapped up seeing how they don't play any sub .500 teams. The Chiefs and Bengals play each other which guarntees one of them will wind up with 2 wins.
I am guessing we will wind up with either the second or 3rd pick overall in the 2009 draft.Last edited by RamsSB99; -12-21-2008 at 09:13 PM.

Re: 2009 1st Round Draft Standings
I'm really hoping that we get Andre Smith from Alabama. The dude is just a monster. I'd be happy with Michael Oher too...I guess either one is fine, as long as we can grab one of them I'll be happy.

Always and Forever a fan of the St. Louis Rams

I have to agree with Smith right now. Or Beanie Wells. Yes, we should pick Beanie Wells, and run the wildcat. We'd be unstoppable.

Re: 2009 1st Round Draft Standings
I would absolutey LOVE Andre Smith to be our pick.
I just have the feeling Cincy will be looking for a franchise LT. It'll be nice to see them win a couple of games and overtake us down the stretch. The Chiefs might look to take a QB (perhaps Stafford?) - I don't think they can be sold on Tyler Thigpen for the future, despite the promise he's shown. I'm still struggling to figure out what the Lions will do. They could go QB, OT, RB, DE ... They just have so many holes. Of course they could just go down the traditional Detroit route and draft yet another WR.
Either way, I'll be rooting for the Bengals, Chiefs and the other "threats" the rest of the way. It's pretty sad to see our season coming down to this, but I figure if we're going to suck, we might as well suck well enough to get a decent pick.

Re: 2009 1st Round Draft Standings
Updated standings the Rams move up to #3 pick. Assuming we continue to lose I will be rooting for the Bengals to beat the Chiefs for us to get to #2.
The worse team records with the teams they have left to play that are under .500.
1. Detroit 0-12
2. Bengals 1-10-1 Browns, Kansas City
3. Rams 2-10 Seattle, San Francisco
4. Chiefs 2-10 Bengals, Chargers
5. Seattle 2-10 St. LouisLast edited by RamsSB99; -12-01-2008 at 01:02 AM.

Re: 2009 1st Round Draft Standings
Let's go Bengals! I could see the Chiefs passing on an o-lineman after drafting Albert, and I can see the Lions also passing on an o-lineman because they're stupid. So that would be great for us.

Re: 2009 1st Round Draft Standings
How are you sure we would win the tie-breaker with Kansas City? What we know is:
1. The Rams and Chiefs have the exact same record (this could be the case come the end of the season)
2. They have not played each other
3. They have the exact same record against common opponents
4. And the strength of schedules seem very, very even at first glance
If we did end up with the same record as KC, it could possibly come down to coin toss which could be ugly. The best way to ensure the #2 pick is to lose out and for the Bengals and Chiefs to each rack up one more win.

Re: 2009 1st Round Draft Standings
YouTube - Andre Smith is a MAN!
YouTube - LT Andre Smith Highlights Alabama vs Clemson 2008
YouTube - LT Andre Smith Highlights Alabama vs Georgia 9/27/08
YouTube - LT Andre Smith Highlights Alabama vs Kentucky 10/4/08
YouTube - LT Andre Smith Highlights Alabama vs Ole Miss 10/18/08
That is a BIG man. I don't know if he'd have the quickness to play LT, but looks like he'd be a great mauler at RT if the Rams wanted to switch Barron to LT in the future.

Re: 2009 1st Round Draft Standings
It looks like Detroit will be the winner of the first pick in the draft. We are now in the hunt for the second pick. All the teams that have a shot at the second pick are at home this week, except Seattle is at St. Louis. With a Seattle win we would be assured of the tie breaker between the two teams and move into 3rd place. The Bengals who would remain in second with a loss would play Cleveland who is 4-9 and the Chiefs who are 2-11 in the final two games of the year. If they would win either game they Rams would move into second if they are able to lose out.
1. Detroit 0-13 (Will get 1st pick in the draft)
2. Bengals 1-11-1 @ home vs. Washington 7-6
3. Seattle 2-11 @ St. Louis 2-10
4. Rams 2-11 @ home vs. Seattle 2-10
5. Chiefs 2-11 @ home vs. San Diego 5-8
Here is what the tie breaker (oppositions win %) was before last weeks games:
1 Detroit Lions 0 - 12 0.563
2 Cincinnati Bengals 1 - 10 0.635
3 Seattle Seahawks 2 - 10 0.531
4 St. Louis Rams 2 - 10 0.552
5 Kansas City Chiefs 2 - 10 0.563
Last year I rooted for wins at the end of the season but this year I am more interested in losses. We need to have major upgrades to this team and winning meaningless games could cost us the two best LT's in the draft.Last edited by RamsSB99; -12-12-2008 at 10:04 PM.

Re: 2009 1st Round Draft Standings
So what are the impressions of Smith post-SEC championship meltdown???
Everyone's allowed one bad game, but I think Smith was exposed on this one.
