Re: 2009 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Discussion Thread
Nice. Ayers @ 48, M Johnson @ 49...............those are two outstanding value picks.

Still some real talent left available, including Evander Hood, Phil Loadholt, Patrick Chung, Duke Robinson and William Moore.

Re: 2009 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Discussion Thread
Even though its a mock, our draft really shows how good players can fall merely because they don't quite fit a team's needs or are not favored by the decisionmakers. That's what makes watching it unfold on draft day intriguing.

Re: 2009 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Discussion Thread
A guy like Hood could drop due to the perception that he does not fit in a 3-4, which many teams run these days. I know I've passed on him for that reason a couple of times.

Well... the Mod Mock is complete.
And, with the Rams having their next choice at the top of Round 3, the following players are still there:
Ramses Barden
Mike Thomas
Lawrence Sidbury, Jr.
Gerald Cadogan
Shonn Greene
Louis Murphy
Fili Moala
Tyrone McKenzie
Darryl Beckwith

Re: 2009 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Discussion Thread
Thats why I think the first round is not that good talent wise (as compared to other first round years) but the real action is after that. The Rams pick in Round 2 is huge for this team.

Re: 2009 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Discussion Thread
A great pick at 35 would be Connor Barwin. I really think he is the total package! The guy was a TE until last year, and a decent one at that, at which point he was switched to OLB/DE. He took that transition in stride and in his first and only season on defense he had 16 TFL and 11 sacks. This lends me to believe that he is the most intelligent and adaptable of all the OLB/DE's in this draft. While not quite as fast as Aaron Curry, Barwin has great balance and fluid hips (ie...great change of direction ability), which probably makes him the best rush/cover SOLB in the draft.
