Re: The 2010 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Selections Thread
With the first pick of the 2010 NFL draft, the St. Louis Rams select........
Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma

I know, guys.....I know. I'm the world's biggest Suh fan. If it were biologically possible I'd birth Suh's children (not really, that is hyperbole........knid of gross hyperbole, at that). But as I've said all along, I actually do GET the Bradford pick; I just feel that Suh will be a much better player when it's all said and done. And I don't feel it fair to let my own bias get in the way of this board's mock when the whole world appears to be screaming for this pick to start the draft.
Of course, also, this pick is assuming that medically he checks out fine.
So what do we get with the first pick in the draft? We get an intelligent QB with amazing accuracy, decision-making skills, leadership, and those hard to find "intangibles" that some folks seem to like so much.
As long as he can keep getting up from the beating he's going to take for a while, we have out QB for the next decade."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

With the second pick in the 2010 Mod Mock Draft, the Detroit Lions take...

NDAMUKONG SUH, DT, NEBRASKA
Head coach Jim Schwartz knows about the kind of impact a talented defensive tackle can make, thanks to his time as a defensive coordinator in Tennessee. There, he coached Albert Haynesworth and saw the kind of impact he could have on the entire unit. While some will argue that the bigger priority for the Lions is to find a left tackle to protect quarterback Matthew Stafford, I simply don't see the value in taking Russell Okung over either of the top defensive tackles in this draft. I think when it's all said and done, the Lions will repeat what they did in 2007 - draft the best player in this class after the team in front of them took a quarterback. Therefore, I project this pick to be Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

With the 3rd pick in the NFL 2010 draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select:

Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
The Buccaneers have been trying to find a replacement for Warren Sapp for years and they feel McCoy is that disruptive force that can dominate the middle of the line.Last edited by AvengerRam; -03-24-2010 at 10:34 AM.

With the fourth selection in the 2010 Draft, the Washington Redskins select...

Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State
With Bradford off the board, the Redskins move on to fill their biggest need. Okung should be a solid replacement for the recently retired Chris Samuels.

With the 5th pick in the 2010 Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select...

Trent Williams, Oklahoma
The Chiefs ranked 27th in the league in sacks allowed, with a whopping 45. Williams is quick, bigger than once thought, and has really been growing as a left tackle, where he feels is his natural position. With Bulaga's thyroid issues, they won't be eager to pull the trigger and take him instead.Super Bowl Champions 2013!

With the 6th pick of the NFL draft, the Seattle Seahawks select....
Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa
The Walter Jones days are over; and while this kid isn't Walter Jones, he will be able to lock down the LT position for the next decade.
Good all around game, hard worker, smart, a leader"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: The 2010 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Selections Thread
With the 7th pick of the 2010 Mod Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns take...

ERIC BERRY - DB - TENNESSEE
What a great turn of events for Cleveland. Earlier in the year, many had Berry going third overall to the Bucs, if the Rams and Lions both took defensive tackles. Some still believe he's an option to go to the Chiefs. But for the Browns to get him here at seven is a blessing, as they're certainly in need of DB help. Berry could potentially unseat Brandon McDonald as a cornerback for the Browns, or he could replace either Mike Adams or Abram Elam as a starting safety.

Re: The 2010 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Selections Thread
With the 8th pick of the 2010 NFL Mod Mock Draft the Oakland Raiders select:

Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers
Davis impressed at the combine and needs a push to reach his full potential. Raiders Headcoach Tom Cable is an offensive line coach by trade and can get the most out of this guy.Last edited by AvengerRam; -03-25-2010 at 02:28 PM.

Re: The 2010 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Selections Thread
With the 9th selection in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select:

Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee
The Bills are switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4 and need a true NT to solidify the DL. Williams is a 329 lb. beast who is arguably the best pure 3-4 NT in the draft. They will consider OTs, but with the early run on the position, they'll move to the defensive side of the ball.

Re: The 2010 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Selections Thread
With the 10th overall pick in the 2010 draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars pick:
Joe Haden, CB, Florida
Haden has had an outstanding career for the Gators as their most active defender in their secondary during that time. Haden is an excellent combination of size, strength and athleticism. He has great foot quickness, balance and agility to maintain proper body positioning in coverage. Haden has excellent hips to open turn and run with receivers as well as burst to stay in his opponent’s hip pocket. Haden is a solid run support defender on the perimeter but can be inconsistent being physical. He understands route progressions but doesn’t always react quickly as plays unfold. Haden can be too aggressive with the ball in the air at times but shows very good ball skills which make him a great playmaker. Haden is one of the top cornerbacks in the 2010 draft and should go early on day one.Super Bowl Champions 2013!

Re: The 2010 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Selections Thread
With the 11th pick of the 2010 draft, the Denver Broncos select......
Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama

The Broncos could have gone a couple of different ways, and may be very close to taking Dez Bryant in this position. However, does the team really want to replace a hard case but talented receiver with what may turn out to be another hard case but talented receiver. In the end, I have more faith in their receiving corp with or without Marshall than I do in the interior of their 3-4 Defense. That's where McClain comes in. He should be an instant fit in the middle of the Broncos D with Davis out the door.
He's a hard nosed, smart, thumper that will help to slow down the between tackle running of the AFC-West."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: The 2010 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Selections Thread
With the 12th pick of the Mod Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins select...

CJ SPILLER - RB - CLEMSON
Word has it that Ricky Williams will be retiring after 2010, and Ronnie Brown's injury combined with his off-field arrest for DUI makes his future in Miami unclear. The Dolphins could use at least a #2 guy to help Brown immediately in the backfield, but Spiller's presence would help the Dolphins part ways with Brown once his contract expires after this season.

Re: The 2010 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Selections Thread
With the 13th pick in the 2010 NFL Mod Mock Draft the San Francisco Whiners select:

Earl Thomas, FS/CB, Texas
Corner is a big need for the Whiners. Shawntae Spencer is coming off a terrific year but the team could never figure out what to do accross from him. Overpaid and aging Nate Clements was benched during the 2009 season and was replaced by the mediocre Terrel Brown.
Thomas' stock has been rising and there's some talk that he can play Corner as well as Free safety.Last edited by AvengerRam; -03-26-2010 at 11:11 AM.

Re: The 2010 ClanRam Mod Mock Draft - Selections Thread
With the 14th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select:

Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State
The Seahawks have flirted with Brandon Marshall for several weeks but, having failed to acquire him, Bryant is a good Plan B. Bryant has certainly not helped his cause this offseason by failing to run for Scouts at the Combine or at OSU's first Pro Day, but he is too talented to continue to fall.
