With the 44th pick in the ClanRam Insiders Mock Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select......

    Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State

The Chiefs are looking for competition for Matt Cassel. I don't feel like present back-up Brady Quinn fits that bill. Weeden has a ton of talent along with a strong arm. If it wasn't for his age (28) he would be considered 1st round talent. Weeden makes sense because he's presumably ready to step in right away.

With the 45th pick in the 2012 ClanRam Insiders Mock Draft, in place of tomahawk, the Dallas Cowboys select...

    Amini Silatolu

    OG - Midwestern State

The Cowboys parted ways with offensive guard Kyle Kosier, and while they added interior linemen Mackenzy Bernadeau and Nate Livings in free agency, neither are world-beaters. Romo needs better protection if he's going to build off of his impressive 2011 campaign (sacked a career high 36 times last season). Silatolu is one of the best remaining players on the board, and while there are some concerns about how he'll transition from the level of competition he's used to playing against, he has the physical skills and on-field demeanor that suggests he could develop into a very capable starting NFL lineman.

With the 46th pick in the NFL draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select:

    Bobby Wagner, LB, Utah State

The Eagles' LB corps left a lot to be desired last year. The addition of D.Ryans gives them a solid tackler on the inside. Wagner will fit in very well next to him. His size and speed (235 lbs, 4.45) make him a great match for the Eagles scheme, resulting in his selction over Lavonte David and Sean Spence.

With the 47th pick in the NFL draft, the New York Jets select...
    Zebrie Sanders, OT, Florida St.

The Jets need a lot of help for Sanchez, as they need WRs and a new right tackle (Wayne Hunter allowed a lot of sacks and was whistled for a lot of penalties). The top two WRs on the board have injury concerns, so the Jets use the pick on Sanders to solidify the right side of the line. Sanders will give Sanchez more time in the pocket, and will fix a weak link on an otherwise fairly strong line. Sanders is also very smart, and considered a hard worker, which may help the Jets locker room problems.

With the 48th pick in the 2012 ClanRam Insiders Mock Draft, The New England Patriots select....

    Harrison Smith, SS, Notre Dame

New England continues its defensive overhaul with a 3rd defensive player taken in a row. Smith is an experienced prospect who has a nice mix of size and speed. He is the top free safety candidate in the 2012 NFL Draft. While it is a weak safety class, Smith is still a respectable prospect. He is a good centerfield safety who prevents big plays from getting behind him. Smith looks like a good NFL safety to patrol the deep part of the field. He should be able to handle coverage responsibilities on running backs coming out of the backfield or tight ends. Smith also figures to be solid in run support. There is demand at the position, and Smith is one of the few safety prospects who looks like he could play quickly.

With the 49th pick of the draft, the San Diego Chargers select....

    Jeff Allen, OT, Illinois

The Chargers are in serious need of an OT. They resigned Gaither, which certainly helps, but Clary is NOT the answer at RT. Allen is not the biggest OT on the market, but he has strength and skill. Solid run blocker and capable pass blocker. He can start at RT and within a couple of years take over for Gaither at LT. Cal's Mitchell Schwartz is the better RT prospect, but most likely will never see the blind side in the NFL. This potential gives Allen the nod over Schwartz.

With the 50th pick in the 2012 ClanRam Insiders Mock Draft, the Chicago Bears select...

    Jerel Worthy

    DT - Michigan State

First and foremost, the Bears are surprised that a potential first rounder like Worthy is available here with the 50th pick. While defensive tackle isn't a position that comes up immediately when discussing the Bears' team needs, it is something they should consider. This offseason, Chicago lost Amobi Okoye to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and while Okoye wasn't a world-beater, he did come up with four sacks last year and played more snaps than any Bears DT except Henry Milton. The Bears also released DT Anthony Adams this spring as well, leaving only Melton, Matt Toeaina, and Stephen Paea on the roster, with Melton being the only productive player of the group. Sure, Chicago could hope that Paea turns the corner, and maybe he does. But Worthy's value at this point is too good to pass up, and he should compete immediately for time on the interior of the Bears' defensive line.

With the 51st pick in the Clan Ram Insiders Mock Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select.....

    David Wilson, RB, Virginia Tech

The Eagles don't have a true back-up for LeSean McCoy. David Wilson fills that role and if things work out the way they anticipate, Wilson could be a real spark to the already high powered Eagles offense.

With the 52nd pick in the 2012 ClanRam Insiders Mock Draft, the Tennessee Titans select...

    Kendall Reyes

    DT - Connecticut

Despite having already drafted a defensive end, and having signed Kamerion Wimbley in free agency, the Titans continue with the defensive line overhaul by taking Kendall Reyes. A borderline first round talent, Reyes was expected to at least be taken during the early part of the second round. The Titans can't pass on a talent like Reyes at a position of need, especially at this stage of the draft. The value is too good to go elsewhere.

With the 53rd pick in the NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select:

    Chris Polk, RB, Washington

The Bengals need chain movers to help young QB Andy Dalton. While Cedric Benson is still producing, he is showing wear-and-tear at this point. Polk isn't flashy, but he has the look of a guy who can handle 20-25 carries per game if the need arises.

With the 54th pick in the NFL draft, the Detroit Lions select...

    Mitchell Schwartz, OT, California

The Lions have been intent on not replacing Backus for years, despite the fact he is sub-standard in pass protection. However he is also 35 and the Lions can't pretend they have a LT forever. Schwartz gives them a future LT who can develop at RT before moving over. He suffers from short arms and durability concerns, but you won't find a perfect LT prospect late in the 2nd round.

With the 55th pick in the 2012 ClanRam Insiders Mock Draft, The Atlanta Falcons select....

    Dwayne Allen, TE, Clemson

The Falcons know T. Gonzalez can't play forever and will need to be replaced at some point, and behind him they dont have much talent at TE. Clemson tight end Dwayne Allen is a very versatile player, capable of playing both a traditional in-line position and as a move player, whether it be in the slot, out wide or as an H-Back. Allen looks natural in all spots, particularly in a stand-up position in the slot. What separates Allen from the other top tight ends is his willingness and ability to block. At 6-4, 255 pounds, Allen has good size and strength. Atlanta hopes he can be a worthy successor to Gonzales.

With the 56th pick in the draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select...

    Alameda Ta'amu, NT, Washington

The Steelers have longed thrived in their 3-4 blitzing defense (God bless Dick LeBeau). And as anyone who knows will tell you, that type of defense HAS to be solid at the Nose. With Hampton and Hoke, the Steelers have been set. But in this offseason, Hoke has retired and the 35-year-old Hampton had his 3rd ACL surgery. They did not seek out a new NT in the offseason, so even if Hampton is ready to go in August, they will still need his replacement on the roster. Ta-amu is a roller coaster. Some games he was brilliant; stuffing two gaps and collapsing the pocket at will. Then other games he completely disappears (cue up the Alamo Bowl film). If the Steelers can plug into what motivates this guy, they have their new NT.

With the 57th pick of the 2012 ClanRam Insiders Mock Draft, the Denver Broncos select...

    Chris Givens

    WR - Wake Forest

The Broncos went defense with their first round pick, but I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to give Peyton Manning some help on offense here in Round Two. Running back may be their biggest offensive need, but I'm not crazy about the value here. DeMaryius Thomas has shown that, when healthy, he can be a dangerous weapon in the passing game. After him and maybe Eric Decker, the pickings for Manning will be slim at receiver. Givens is a good value in the late second round as a guy who could line up all over the field.

With the 58th pick of the ClanRam Insiders Mock Draft, the Houston Texans select.....

    Mychal Kendricks, ILB, California

The Texans traded away DeMeco Ryans because he didn't really fit their 3-4 very well. Why not obtain a LB who does? Kendricks blew up the combine and has plenty of experience in that formation.
