That would help to explain why the UW O-lineman are so freaking huge. Geez, I'm getting hungry now.

I think Ford is good value at this point. He's not (as he says) better than Clowney, but I bet he will excel in a 3-4 OLB spot. That's 2 for Ford.

Re: The 2014 ClanRam Voting Mock Draft (Post-Combine Ed.)

Cleveland has it's QB, so where do they go with this extra pick?

They will take a RB early, but do they wait till very early round two to take on, or make sure and get the top guy RB C. Hyde, who plays just down the road in Columbus?

Their other need is guard, and the best ones are on the board still. Again, round two could be that guy, if t hey wait on a RB in a deep crop.

The defensive needs are at CB, ILB, and DE

However, by far the best remaining player is a guy OC Shanahan won't let them get away, with visions of him on one side and Gordon on the other , dancing in his head.

No doubt t he Niner s and Seattle and the Jets will be trying to deal up to get this guy in this scenario, and Rams fans hope the two NFC West teams fail.

The Niners traded up to get Eric Reid last year, and could make a play this year too.

Rams fans pray that fails, and,

    Cleveland takes K. Benjamin WR

Definitely rather see the next best WR , like Beckham, Landry, Adams, twice a year than that beast.

I agree with that pick. I'll say Kelvin Benjamin to catch passes from Bridgewater.

Benjamin to Cleveland gets my vote as well, and that's three.

The New Orleans Saints are on the clock.

Re: The 2014 ClanRam Voting Mock Draft (Post-Combine Ed.)

Up next is the Saints, who some say need a tackle to protect Brees, but they have Jimmy Graham eating up their cap room. So the draft will be their only real way to fill needs. They like Armstead, the ST louis area guy that started at the end of the year, so they pass on OT.

The ONLY OT that might be a value here is Moses, but how does he compare to the tier of guys still on that board.

My top guys left include, WR O. Beckham, CB Jason Verett, CB R. Roby, OLB R. Shazier, DT R Hageman, G X. Sua -Filo, RB C Hyde

The Saints 3-4 doesn't lend itself to Hageman except as a DE, and the Saints are great there with Hicks and Jordan.

The Saints needs after tackle are CB (maybe #1 need), OLB, WR, SS

That would seem to put Verrett or Roby, Beckham, and Shazier as the Saints choice.

The Saints USUALLY take the wrong DB, but because Verrett is a French name, he might be the choice over the more gifted athletically and bigger Roby.

Though tempted to take LSU's Beckham, I think the Saints go with ...

    Jason Verett CB

I believe the Saints have needs at LB, DB, OL, and WR. I don't see good value for a 3-4 pass rusher, and I'm not sure Shazier can hold up as an inside 'backer in a three man front. I think the Saints will get something worked out with Zach Strief, so that leaves receiver. The Saints' top five pass catchers last year included only two receivers, one of which (Marques Colston) isn't the player he used to be. I think LSU's Odell Beckham makes a lot of sense for the Saints, as a player the franchise and fan base can be excited about but also one that is a good value at this point in the draft.

I say Verett; they'll probably be looking to go defense in this draft and CB is their biggest need. Beckham would be a good pick also, but I think they have enough talent on the offensive side to make it click.

    Verett - 2
    Beckham - 1

Re: The 2014 ClanRam Voting Mock Draft (Post-Combine Ed.)

After having all night to think about it, and seeig Daniel Jeremiah's latest top 50 last night, and looking closer at the Saints, I'm gonna change my vote to Beckham, as a much higher rated player now than Verett. Beckham now rated closer to the first bunch of WR than the high second round guys

The NFL South is full of big receivers, Jones, Vincent, Lefell, etc, and verett might be a smaller guy than the Saints want. They can get a CB round two, probably not a comparable WR to Beckham.

Plus the Saint's know Brees and t he offense is their path to winning a SB.

So I change my vote to Beckham.

    That's three now for him

Re: The 2014 ClanRam Voting Mock Draft (Post-Combine Ed.)

Carolina has needed a receiver for awhile, though they get along OK with Lafell and aging Steve Smith.

It appears they are finally moving on from Smith, so need #1 is WR.

Jordan Gross retired , so a LT is now also a priority, with no real answer on the roster. The could be looking for a free agent LT, and they have some cap room, though tagging Greg Hardy has used a bunch of it up.

The other top need for Carolina is CB.

Looking at the available talent, the next best OT is either Moses or Kouanjio. However, Kouanjio has some health issues, and supposedly flunked some team's physicals.

There are two corners, Verett and Roby, who fit here.

That being said, I see Carolina going offense, as they have a great defense already, and they probably will try to re-sign Captain Munnerlyn.

The top receivers on the boar d are , Adams, Mathews, Landry, Bryant, and Carolina picks too late in round two to get the kind of WR help they need now. They probably are bummed about Beckham going right before they pick.

But I think Carolina takes a receiver here over an OT like Moses.

They probably prefer a speed guy, but with a short QB, you need tall receivers to be t he most effective.

So I'm looking for a guy with size and speed, from the remaining WR

The next WR are J. Mathews, J Landry, and M. Bryant

Because of his 6-3, 212 lb body, huge hands, and great productivity (ALL TIME SEC leader in career yards 112 catches on bad team as a Senior), as well as that 4.46 forty, and ball skills /jumping ability the Panthers select a guy who might be a big steal in the end...

    Jordan Mathews WR -Vandy

Rams fans once again are happy to see the last possible first round WR talents go before their rivals pick.

I know the Carolina Panthers want to get more weapons for the Franchise (Cam Newton). However I feel like they need to protect him first and foremost. With that said, I would go with an OT here, Antonio Richardson (Tennessee) would be my choice.

Two of Carolina's top corners last year were Captain Munnerlyn and Drayton Florence, both of whom are expected to hit the market in free agency.

While OT and WR may be more pressing needs, I don't see a great value on the board at either position. Jason Verrett, however, is one of the better values available here IMO, so I think he's the pick.

    Matthews (1)
    Richardson (1)
    Verrett (1)

6'5 is short for a QB?

My choice is Brandin Cooks to be Steve Smiths heir.
