With the 30th pick in the 2014 NFL draft, the San Francisco ***** select

Jordan Matthews, Wide Receiver - Vanderbilt

While the ***** are fairly well set at WR, they're not getting younger, and the WR position drops off (except for Benjamin) quickly after the first round, and they have a lot of picks.
Matthews has above average size and OK speed, and is one of those guys that has great hands, gets open and makes catches, as is evidenced by his stats vs the defense-minded SEC.

With the 31st pick, the Denver Broncos select...

    Ryan Shazier, LB, Ohio St.

The AFC Champs were fairly thin at LB before Woodyard left town. They need a solid tackler to solidify the middle of their defense. Shazier is a dynamic force who is versatile enough to cover multiple roles in the Denver defense. Their position preference for this pick would have been CB, but with 5 already gone, Shazier became too much value to pass up.

With the 32nd pick, the Seattle Seahawks select...

Xavier Su'a Filo, OG, Notre Dame

Given that St. Louis now has Jadeveon Clowney, and given all the other strong pass rushers in the NFC West, this is a solid counter-strike by Seattle. They're not particularly weak in any one area, but an upgrade could be sought on the interior. Su'a Filo is a nice get as one of the prime guys on the interior in this draft.

With the first pick in the 2nd round, No. 33 overall, the Houston Texans select:

    Jeremiah Attaochu, OLB, Georgia Tech

Having passed on Jadeveon Clowney and Khalil Mack in Round 1, the Texans fill their need for a dynamic pass rusher at the top of Round 2. Attaochu has a strong resume, having recored 10 sacks in 2012, and 12 in 2013. He is a perfect fit for the Texans' 3-4 system, and should be able to compliment J.J. Watt in the role of terrorizing opposing QBs.

With the 34th pick, the Washington Redskins select...

    Ra'Shede Hageman
    DL - Minnesota
The Redskins allowed a league worst 23 rushing touchdowns in 2013, and need to improve their defensive front. They've added a couple of bodies at inside linebacker, and brought in Jason Hatcher from Dallas to be one five-technique player for them. But they could stand to upgrade over Jarvis Jenkins on the other side. Hageman has the size and strength to hold up at the five technique, so he could be enticing to the Redskins in this spot.

With the 35th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select:

    David Yankey, Guard - Stanford

They're doing the happy dance in the Cleveland Draft Room, as their biggest need, and the consensus top-rated guard in the draft falls into their lap. With the FA addition of McQuistan from Seattle, the Browns are set at guard, and since good guards tend to make OT's look better, Johnny Football is dancing as well.

With the 36th pick, the Oakland Raiders select....

    Name: images.jpg
Views: 76
Size: 4.4 KB

    Derek Carr, QB, Fresno St.

They got their receiver in the 1st round with Watkins. Now, they get someone to throw him the ball. Schaub is not as bad as Houston would have you believe, but he's not the long-term answer either. Let Schaub patrol clipboard duty for the year, then he takes over as the Raiders signal-caller with Watkins at the other end.

With the 37th Pick, the Atlanta Falcons select...

    Dee Ford, DE, Auburn

The Falcons could have targeted Clowney via a trade-up in the first. Instead, they get perhaps the draft's best OT in a falling Robinson, and now they catch Dee Ford in the second. Ford's gone in on saying that he's the best DE in this class, and now he gets the chance to prove it in Atlanta. Watch the Falcons get better real quick.

With the 6th pick in the second round, No. 38 overall, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select:

    Kony Ealy, DE, Missouri

The Bucs need to bolster their outside pass rush, and they are thrilled to see Ealy still on the board. He has the size to hold up against the run, and was a productive pass rusher in the SEC. They still need offensive linemen, but they'll address that position later.

With the 39th pick, the Jacksonville Jaguars select...

    JIMMY GAROPPOLO
    QB, Eastern Illinois

The Jaguars took an exceptional talent in Khalil Mack in the first round, but they did it at the expense of their large need at quarterback. Now, they're able to come back in the second round and choose from a number of quality second tier passers. Given who is on the board, I think this pick would come down to Garoppolo or Tom Savage, the latter having built some momentum late in the process and could be selected on the draft's second day. But Garoppolo has been in that second day discussion for quite a while, and shouldn't be forgotten for the flavor of the month. He still has some growing to do, but Jacksonville wouldn't be forced to start him early as a second round pick and could groom him behind Chad Henne.

With the 40th pick, the Vikings select:

    Lamarcus Joyner, CB, Florida State

The Viking look to bolster their secondary going up against some prolific passers in the NFC North, with the the addition of Joyner, who played safety for two years in college, as well as corner an nickel his senior year. Small but solid, (5-8, 195), with a 4.4 40, Joyner went up against Benjamin a lot in practice, and plays the run game well.

With the 41st pick, the Buffalo Bills selects.....

2014 Mod Mock Draft *THE SELECTION THREAD*-rn_i_dionbailey_ms_300.jpg

    Dion Bailey, S, USC

The Bills helped their O-line woes in the 1st round with Jake Matthews, but now they have to address the Safety void left by the departure of Jairus Byrd to warmer climates. Bailey is not at the prospect level of Pryor or HCD, but was very productive at USC, and could have the opportunity to instantly start in the Bills secondary.

With the 42nd pick, the Tenessee Titans select...

    Tom Savage, QB, Pitt

Someone call Steve Austin, because this is a stone cold stunner. Savage stands at 6'4" and has all the balance and poise you look for in a QB. He's reportedly been rocketing up boards over the last month or so, and the Titans could be a fit. The cupboard behind Jake Locker is essentially bare, and if he doesn't work out, they've got nothing going forward. As it stands, this is a shock, but not an illogical move for Tennessee, and one that could pay big dividends.

With the 43rd selection in the 2014 Mod Mock Draft, the New York Giants select:

    Marcus Martin, C, USC

The Giants go back to the trenches after selecting DT Aaron Donald in the first round. They need a lot of work on their OL, and it starts in the middle. Martin is a big bodied (320) player who should be able to anchor their interior OL for the next few years.

With the 44th overall pick, the St. Louis Rams select...

    JOEL BITONIO
    OL, NEVADA

The Rams need offensive line help, and they didn't get it in the first round. They have a couple of options to choose from here, and perhaps this choice is a little bit of a surprise with Morgan Moses on the board, but I think Bitonio may ultimately come off the board before the Virginia lineman does, and here's why.

ESPN's Adam Caplan recently pegged Bitonio as a guy who will end up being a Top 50 pick in this class; eariler in the month, Daniel Jeremiah said he could see Bitonio sneaking into the first round. Bitonio has 38 starts under his belt at tackle over the last three years, taking the starting job as a sophomore. However, some feel he has the versatility to play guard or even center. He checked in with nearly 34" arms at the Combine, and posted the best 10 and 20-yard split times of any lineman at the event while clocking a sub five-second forty.

Bitonio is a high character prospect with the agility necessary to mirror edge rushers at tackle, but also the versatility the Rams like in their linemen. Regardless of the position, Bitonio gives the Rams a starting-caliber player to groom. He could step in immediately at left guard and lock that spot down for the long term, or he could eventually work towards taking Jake Long or Scott Well's spots on the line when their time with the Rams is over.
