Andre Smith. He's a beast. We have Pace who is aging. We also have Barron who has been okay at most.
Time to get a new face on this line. And this franchise.

i would take a hard look at Aaron Maybin of PENN ST. Looks a lot like Demarcus Ware. I know he may not fit in our D system, but who really does? He could sit there on the Outside LB spot. I would like to see us switch to a 3-4.

I say Andre Smith but we do need to address a D that get gash on the ground that need to stop.

I'd advocate trading down and picking either Maualuga or Laurinaitis; we could use an extra second-round pick.
If we can't do that and have to pick at number two, I'd prefer Oher to Smith although I have doubts about both. Smith looks ponderous and has weight issues, while Oher reportedly loses concentration at times. I would say that Oher has the more upside of the pair.

If we need another OT, let's get him at the top of the second or 3rd rd. If we want to make a differance on the scoreboard and make teams sheeet their drawers , pick CRABTREE to go with AVERY , BURTON and STANLEY. Throw in HOLT and LOOKER and just get rid of BENNETTalready. We are in the place to get a JERRY RICE kind of playmaker, don't blow it, the RAMS could go from 0 to 100 in 10 seconds

If we get an LT what happens to Pace? depending on what we do in free agency I think we might need a DT or MLB

Re: With the 2nd pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams pick.....
I think certainly we'll be looking in the direction of MLB and DT at some stage. I think we'd probably leaning toward finding a MLB in the draft and a DT via free agency just because of what's out there.
If we get a Left Tackle, Pace remains the starter for the next season whilst the player we draft is plugged in elsewhere. If he's ready, he could start anywhere on this line with the exception of probably center. I'd be leaning towards Right Tackle, but there's no formula. Jon Ogden spent a year at guard before moving on over to LT.

I like Oher in the 1st rd, he was great yesterday in the Cotton Bowl. Smith would also be a great fit, but he's not mature enough. Crabtree would be great if we filled the OL with quality FA's.

Re: With the 2nd pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams pick.....
My 2 cents. I freaking love Crabtree. Everyone talks about his lack of speed, but when I watch the highlights, I see him pulling away from TEXAS' secondary, pulling players for an extra 5 yards, making adjustments to the ball at the sidelines so he can move up the field instead of merely going out of bounds, jumping up in the endzone to catch the ball at its highest point and breaking defenders ankles EVERY TIME he gets out into the open. I don't think Burton will be able to fill the void when Holt leaves, which should be this offseason since he's lost more than one step. Crabtree will be an instant threat in the passing game which should open things up for Jackson on delays and misdirection.
That said, we need help at OL. So without question we need to add a starter or two in free agency, and depth as well. I'd like to see us address tackle in the second round, and if its an option, I'd like to move Pace inside to guard.
I'm not too concerned about LB though, because solid run stoppers can always be found in later rounds a la Zach Diles from the Texans.
We also need a legit backup running back, because without a running game the Rams can't do anything and really become one dimensional. I know Stephen Jackson wants a real fullback, and coach idiot released ours one week into the 07 season. But I don't see us addressing that in this yrs draft. At the very least, try to convert a back-up LB. Heck, take Crabtree and stick him in the backfield from time to time with Jackson lined up at fullback.
Finally our secondary needs to quit giving up big plays. We need OJ back as our safety. And this year we need to take a corner that won't go on IR before the season even starts.
We got a lot of holes, but to help cover those up, we need one explosive offensive player to go with Avery and Jackson. Then decide if we should cut ties with Bulger next yr as much as I've always hated his lack of fire as a starting QB, gotta keep him around. Maybe even try to pick up a big pass catching TE too like Bear Pascoe. Just a thought.
