3/20/07 Rams Draft [with a trade]

Trade

-Rams send 1[13] to the Denver Broncos for 1[21] and [53].

Draft

1[21] NT Tank Tyler [NC State]
-He fills he biggest need on the team and is moving up draft boards as we speak.
http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...rcustyler.html

2[50] DE LaMarr Woodley [Michigan]
-A great pro day performance stops Woodley’s slide. Woodley brings great speed and a high motor to assist in the pass rush.
http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...rrwoodley.html

2[51] OG Maneul Ramirez [Texas Tech]
-Setterstrom and Romberg are not bad, but they are not proven players. Ramirez brings incredible size and strength to the interior OL.
http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...elramirez.html

3[77] DT Brandon Mebane [Cal]
-Mebane is 6’1” 309lbs penetrating tackle that can be developed along with Wroten hopefully giving the Rams a solid under tackle.
http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...donmebane.html

4. S Josh Gattis [Wake Forest]
-A big hitter that will help on special teams while developing at SS.
http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...oshgattis.html

5. LB Prescott Burgess [Michigan]
-Burgess is big and he can cover, with the signing of draft the Rams do not have to try and pick for an immediate impact.
http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...ttburgess.html

6. OT Chase Johnson [Wyoming]
-At 6’8” 325lbs. Johnson is a developmental prospect at RT.
http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...sejohnson.html

7. WR Paul Thompson [OU]
-A developmental prospect and emergency QB.

Re: 3/20/07 Rams Draft [with a trade]

If your objection to setterstrom and romberg is that they arent proven, how does adding a rookie help give us a more proven guy? Sure it gives us another young guy, but i dont think it helps give us any higher degree of certainty. If i was going to trade down, i would want even more defense. I also dont for a second buy into the "shooting up draft boards theory" I think a lot of that is media hype. The tank has off the field issues that dont go away by virtue of his workout results. Nick has pointed out time and again that those concerned about branch should note that tyler has issues associated with him as well.

I am not trying to be hostile country, i think a lot of your picks show 10x more knowledge than i have, i am just a bit mystified as to people getting so down on branch and so excited about tank tyler.

ramming speed to all

Re: 3/20/07 Rams Draft [with a trade]

the gripe i have with this draft is that we dont come out with a high quality defensive player like Branch, Okoye, Carriker, Landry etc

I can see the Rams trading to continue to add depth and youth.

Your missing a back-up RB? We need one, Minor should not be depended upon.

It's his mock, he can have a trade if he wants one. Heck, one of the major mock draft sites, Great Blue North (www.gbnreport.com) has a trade in it also that allows the Texans to draft Adrian Peterson. Now there's an interesting twist.

If the Texans somehow get Peterson, after getting Super Mario Williams last year, I hope everyone shuts up on how the Texans blew it. They get a stud DE and an everydown back.

Trades happen and in my opinion the Rams are better off trading down and adding picks. Th players at 13 are not that much better than 20.

Re: 3/20/07 Rams Draft [with a trade]

There is a huge difference between guys like Landry, Ginn, Carricker, Okoye, Timmons, and Willis and ... Tank Tyler. By your logic, the team in the top positions should always trade down too because, well, its always a crap shoot.
