3 Mocks: Blackmon-1, Claiborne-2, and Richardson-3. Pick the mock you like the best.
There are three mocks with each one having a different 1st round pick. This mock also assumes we sign another DT and OLB in free agency. I know some may not like that I am not taking a DT or OLB high but I think we can find capable one year fill ins and fill other needs this year.
Here are two free agent signings assumed:

You seem locked on to taking two WR's early. I hope we don't do that.

Re: 3 Mocks: Blackmon-1, Claiborne-2, and Richardson-3. Pick the mock you like the be
Even though I think 2 rookie WR's starting is overkill, I love the first draft. Blackmon is pro ready and the second he steps on the NFL field he'll be a force. Think Anquan Boldin's first year, (101 recpetions, 1,377 yards, 8 TD's). Not to mention the speediest WR in the draft across from him. I love a Hill/Blackmon combo because Blackmon is so pro-ready that it will help Hill. Hill can be used as the deep threat, and is an excellent blocker. Thats why I'm not so high on the other drafts, Hill and the other WR's are too raw.
I love LaMichael James' ability to break one at anytime. Mike Adams I'm not so high on, but its excellent insurance incase JSmooth gets injured or whether he just sucks Adams can step in at RT and play right away. Brooks is the steal of the draft. He's a monster, and I want him next to Wells and Saffold.
Asa Jackson is also a nice player, he could be a HUGE steal that late!
All in all, the first one is my preference and fills tons of holes. The only thing I'd change is McIntosh over Hill who will probably be suspended.

Re: 3 Mocks: Blackmon-1, Claiborne-2, and Richardson-3. Pick the mock you like the be
I think we can get by with signing another DT this year and I dont want to take a LB early in this draft we can get one in FA or after cuts. We have not had anyone step up and take the #1 or #2 WR spot. Amendola is a good #3 and Salas looks like he might be able to develop into a decent #2. However if we got two of the three WRs (Blackmon, Hill, and Sanu) it would help Sam tremendously in the passing game and they all have good size 6'1, 6'2, and 6'4. They all are good blockers in the running game as well. Bascially these drafts have 2 WRs, 1 RB, and 1 or 2 OL in the first four rounds. The defense is not near as bad as the offense. We couldn't score at all last year and this year I would like to load up on some weapons. We didn't get anything in free agency that we can count on to be an offensive weapon.

NONE OF THE ABOVE.
Selecting Stephen Hill with the 1st pick in round 2 is too early and a big risk. The Rams can address other positions and take the BPA on the board or trade down and pick up some more picks.

I like #1 but I'm leaning more towards #3. We haven't been able to find a fill in or replacement for Steven Jackson in like forever.

If you put a gun to my head and I had to settle for one of these three I think I might go with 3. Don't care for double WR that early really. I say get T-rich and Sjax and they each get 25 carries a game. Who needs receivers then? Just line up in a triple TE package every down.

Just for the record, I'd prefer we do the 1st one but instead of Stephen Hill we take Jerel Worthy or Kendall Reyes. 2 rookie WR's is too much, plus Haynesworth is washed up and is done.

Re: 3 Mocks: Blackmon-1, Claiborne-2, and Richardson-3. Pick the mock you like the be
I dont think the Plan should ever be to just "get by" we have a new coach and now is the time we start building this team for future success. Signing the mediocre DT and OLB in free agency is not the best option just look at the results from the spags era he never addressed those positions and just singed aging veterans
Hill is definately enticing but I would rather fill a defensive need...But i prefer the 1st option only because it has Blackmon and Mike Adams the guy is either a poor-mans Orlando Pace or an Alex Barron and if it works out we got our O-line all worked out by kicking Smith inside.

Re: 3 Mocks: Blackmon-1, Claiborne-2, and Richardson-3. Pick the mock you like the be
Its crazy to think we wont have two get by starters this year. We will have two starters on the team this year that will not be starters the next year. I would bet any amount of money on that. Even good teams have get by players or players that they are not counting on for the longterm. Even good teams replace two or more starters each year.

Re: 3 Mocks: Blackmon-1, Claiborne-2, and Richardson-3. Pick the mock you like the be
I really like James as well but I still voted for Richardson. I think James is a great RB I just think Richardson is better all around. Richardson can power his way to a first down and he is a good receiver and excellent blocker. James is a fast RB that can really put some moves on the defense. He is the second RB in the Draft I want if we don't take Trent because he would bring the lightning while Jackson brought the Thunder. With all that said I just think Richardson sets us up better for the future when Jackson does leave Richardson can carry the load.

Re: 3 Mocks: Blackmon-1, Claiborne-2, and Richardson-3. Pick the mock you like the be
I didn't want to get into to many discussion on here about who people would take. I was just curious to see which draft people thought was the best and I know that no two of us will agree on all the changes. I doubt the Rams will go with two WR's in the first four rounds but if two of the three mentioned are there I would like to draft them. Also when the Rams pass up the chance to take two of the three WR's I wont be disapointed because we have many needs and I will trust that they make the right decisions until I see them playing for the Rams.
As for Haynesworth or another FA DT. It could be someone yet to be released or it could be one of the following that is still a FA.
John Henderson DT 6'7 335 33
Albert Haynesworth DT 6'6 350 31
Shaun Rogers DT 6'4 350 33
Amobi Okoye DT 6'2 295 25
Antonio Garay DT 6'4 320 33
Aubrayo Franklin DT 6'1 320 32
Gary Gibson DT 6'3 315 30
Gerard Warren DT 6'4 330 34
Sammie Lee Hill DT 6'4 330 26 (RFA 4th round comp)
Trevor Laws DT 6'1 305 26
Fred Robbins DT 6'4 325 35
Justin Bannan DT 6'3 315 33Last edited by RamsSB99; -04-07-2012 at 11:46 AM.

I like none of those. We will take a DT in the 2nd. Wouldn't make sense not to.

We need a young DT. We got one of the better FA DTs available in Langford, but I would be surprised if we didn't take one in the draft. Especially given the remaining FA DTs that are there. None strike me as starters at this stage.

Re: 3 Mocks: Blackmon-1, Claiborne-2, and Richardson-3. Pick the mock you like the be
for me if i had to say what position this draft is deepest in,i think it`s DT hands down. if we didn't have teams in dire need of filling holes at other positions ,many more would go in the 1st. so why not get one with first round value in the 2nd now instead of waiting till next year.
why wait till next year when the talent is there to pick now and at knocked down prices?
once we draft Blackmon our WR corps will have what they have been crying out for..the rest of the wideouts we already have can be capable number 2`s,3`s 4`s etc...no need to draft more of the same. if we miss out on Blackmon then we could go Floyd but outside of those two..i just see more of the same as we`ve already got. perhaps better blocking wideouts but that`s not enough to pass on better overall prospects at other positions of need. looking at the roster after the draft and F.A pick ups we`d have 8 Wideouts and only 3 DT`s,with 1 being a good 3-4 DE who will have to change position to 4-3 DT. 2 being the washed up Fat Albert and 3 being the hot and cold in college, tepid in the Pro`s Darell Scott. the numbers just don't add up to produce a competitive team next season, way too much would depend on us having our injuries in positions where we have a lot of depth and only wideout and O-line would we be deep enough to withstand a couple of injuries.
sure not every hole can be filled with a great player but we atleast need to try and spread the injection of incoming talent about to cover all units of our team.
the rest of the mock drafts i would like a lot if it wasn't for the wideouts in the second.
