Linehan has already said they plan on using Carriker at DT. Meaning they still have needs at DE, specifically a pass rush specialist.

I think we passed up a great opportunity to improve our defense with Crowder, Tank, Charles Johnson and Stewart Bradley on the board. I don't like it at all. They could have addressed RB/FB later.

What's the reaction in the chatroom?

Re: With the 52nd pick, St. Louis selects Brian Leonard, FB, Rutgers

He better be a damn good blocker, I want to trust Linehan, but I really think he has a MM type of mindset and it can be put to good use, however use it when it is necessary. I don't think this was a necessary pick. A DE would've been a better pick in the 2nd...

I'm a Viking fan and a Rutgers student. This kid is nothing has a great heart, and is a great player. I guarantee every single one of you, that one year from now each and every single one of you will call this pick a brilliant signing. You won't regret this one bit.

Re: With the 52nd pick, St. Louis selects Brian Leonard, FB, Rutgers

I understand that he is a good player, and a great person Vikes, and I appreciate that. However, it angers me and probably most of us because of the fact that if we had known what Linehan was going to use the #2 pick for, we would've all wanted to give that #2 pick to the Panthers because atleast we would've made some productivity with it defensively. It seems like a wasted pick, and a wasted opportunity to get Kris Jenkins in the horns.

as a rutgers alumni and big rams fan, i love this pick..perhaps we did have some other needs to address, but we did need a backup to SJ, right? let me tell you, leonard is the real deal..he can do everything and most importantly he is a great teammate..took a back seat senior year to ray rice, adn didnt make a stink at all..hes a load to take down, and deceptively fast...im sure linehan will address defense in later rounds..just cause we need a DT doesnt mmean you take someone hear whos not really worth a 2nd rounder..leonard was best pick avaiable kinda guy..

I seen what he could do when Rutgers would play my Illini..
He's a beast...a bruiser..He can block, catch, run...Just makes our offense..well, even more great. I'd love for him to start at FB..Right in front of Jackson...He'd make Steven even better.

You have to remember, It takes 2 teams to complete a trade. I also heard the Panthers wanted more than just a second...a lot more. So far, I think it has been a decent draft.

It's okay. Would have preferred Ryan Kali, Charles Johnson or Stewart Bradley, but Leonard is rutgers all time leader in scoring and recieivng, reportedly. Here's hoping he's Chris Cooley incarnate.

I don't like this pick, it doesn't have much to do with Leonard though. We should have continued to improve our defense. Seriously, Linehan is getting greedy with his offense, look at all the signings to that side of the ball this offseason! We're great on offense already and now we're slightly better perhaps, but what the hell about defense? Give Haslett something to work with for crying out loud, I would have gone defense in the first 3 rounds this year. Get a pass-rusher, get a LB with some more bulk than our current ones (optionally a situational player for running downs), get a safety, get some freaking defense!

Re: With the 52nd pick, St. Louis selects Brian Leonard, FB, Rutgers

put SJ and leonard on the field at the same time...im tellin you the defense wont know what to do...leonard put on on 10-15 lbs this senior season b/c he knew he was primalriy going to block for ray rice alot...he dropped that weight now...the year before when he was the primary RB, he was nassty!! bruiser and fast..i bet linhan already has some plays in minfd for him..peopel that think he is like mike alstott are wrong..he is MUCH faster than alstott but just as big a bruiser..
