Re: With the 84th pick, St. Louis selects Jonathan Wade, CB, Tennessee
Second choice player, IMO Johnson would have been number one, but I can't find anything better to have done with it. I have immense faith in this organisation.

Re: With the 84th pick, St. Louis selects Jonathan Wade, CB, Tennessee
JONATHAN WADE
Position: Cornerback
Height, weight: 5-10, 195
College: Tennessee
COLLEGE RECAP
Wade was the only player on the 2006 Volunteers squad to catch a pass, return a
kickoff, carry the ball, intercept a pass and make a tackle during his career.
Switched from wide receiver after injuring his shoulder in his sophomore
season. Wade was a member of two of the three fastest 4x100-meter relay teams
in UT history and was named an All-American in indoor and outdoor track in
2005. Named to the AP All-Southeastern Conference second team as a defensive
back in 2006.
PLUSES
His experience on offense makes him alert to the receiver's route progression
and moves. Gets a quick break on the ball. Does a good job of using his hands
to knock the receivers off their rhythm. His leaping ability allows him to play
bigger than his size.
MINUSES
Tends to freelance. Devoted only one offseason to football. Can be fooled on
play-action and screens. Seems to shy away from contact when asked to step
inside the box to lend run support.
PROJECTED ROLE
Will provide depth at cornerback.

Re: With the 84th pick, St. Louis selects Jonathan Wade, CB, Tennessee
When I was watching the third round at first I like many here we're rooting for us to take a DE. In retrospect, at the expense of sounding post facto excited about this pick I think it was the right move. We don't need a three down DE at this point, we just need a prototypical pass rusher even if its someone we just stick in on third down and that probably can be had in round 4 or even round 6. That being said i wish Wade was a little more polished, but Walls and Rumph can serve as a bridge in the secondary until Wade is ready to contribute probably in year two . A decent day all in all, not really 'sexy' pics, but solid pics

This seems like a solid pick, hopefully he can be used as a Dime/Quarter DB.

Re: With the 84th pick, St. Louis selects Jonathan Wade, CB, Tennessee
this helps with depth if he can make the transition and be coached up . as for BARTELL being gone . there is no way , and i repeat , no way that WADE -WALLS-RUMPH, stick on this team , and BUTLER to boot, and BARTELL being gone .

If you look at the Rams website you'll see that Bartell is now listed as a FS. We have a log jam at CB and unless something horrible happens, Bartell will compete with OJ for the starting FS job.

Re: With the 84th pick, St. Louis selects Jonathan Wade, CB, Tennessee
Let's not get excited about this guy coming in and replacing a current player. This guy has skills, but need maturing at the pro level. Unless he unleashes unbelievable comprehension to the pro CB position, probably the most difficult to master next to QB, he will be a project to develop for more regular play next year.

Wade will be good. I'm a HUGE Volunteer fan. He is worth the pick.
