    According to the Miami Herald....

I just checked the Miami newspaper on line. In an article posted 38 minutes ago, apparantly Long's wife is quoted as of late last night that she doesn't know how its going to turn out. The article explicitly states that Long is still deciding between the Rams and Miami.

This is far from over. While i appreciate that post is somewhat stating the obvious, i thought it would be worth adding if for no other reason than communicating directly with you guys is the only thing keeping me remotely calm right now.

Honestly if we don't land Long I'll be ok with that. I'd rather not sign him than overpay him and have to let somebody walk in the future because his salary has handcuffed us. Especially with the injury concerns that seem to come along with him. Saffold is a serviceable LT (maybe better, we'll see) and we can get a RT in the draft.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to land him, but he's only 1 piece and I don't think we need to go crazy pursuing him when we have both other needs and other ways to fill the tackle position.

If he is waffling that tells me he might not want to be a Ram. In that case See ya Jake.

Everyone is just reading between the lines at this point.

If he signs with us, I presume he'll be fully on board and won't look back.

    Just trying to be patient.

I remember last time someone had the choice between Miami and STL.

    How'd that turn out again?

Id assume the people there at Miami are starting to get a bit frustrated with us stealing al their potential FA's... lol Fisher/Cook/maybe Long.

This all stems from the fact that I, a person who lived most of his life in South Florida, became a Rams fan.

Miami is still bitter over that one.

I also visited the dolphins fan forums, and they are also just becoming impatient. At this point they just want to see a resolution. They want to be able to move on with or without Jake as they see Winston as being an interesting possible addition.

I for one have to admit that the tought has crossed my mind as well. If Long re-signs with the Dolphins then I wouldn't mind taking a look at Winston to play RT. While keeping Saffold at LT he's probably not as good as Long, but he is serviceable.

I have an inside track at the Dolphins front office, and they say that was their main motivation for pursuing Fisher and Cook. Otherwise they didn't really care.

If we miss out on Long then what a mess. Most premium free agents have gone while we've been wasting time.

Trying my hardest to #keepcalmandsneadon but this is getting ridiculous.

Please. PLEASE. For the love of all holy things, take that stupid saying outta here and go back to turfshowtimes with that crap. That website is a complete joke and actually provides comical relief more so than real information.

Hey, I've been waiting 2 days for Long to sign. I'm getting bored. I'll read anything Ram related right now.

BTW wouldn't trust anything the Miami Herald put up. Their beat writer had Long to the Rams confirmed 2 days ago from a fake twitter account. About as reliable as my arse after a curry.

What is so ridiculous about a guy trying to get the best contract possible along with deciding where he wants to live with his family for the next 4 or 5 years or more? On the other side of the table, the Rams wisely are attempting to stretch their cap dollars as far as possible. Whether or not we sign Jake Long, Snead and Fish will continue to add a steady stream of talent through FA, and in particular - through the draft. Jake Long is a really good tackle when healthy, but the success or failure the entire team does not hinge on his being signed. For years many Ram fans (myself included) clamored for an owner that cared and wanted to win, along with a sharp GM and a real honest to God head coach. Now Snead, Fish, and Demoff are doing exactly what they were hired to do. Sit back and enjoy! Better days are ahead ..
