i like Hawk, hes played in the middle, but i believe he used to play weakside linebacker. i'd put money on him being signed by Green Bay again. but a handy LB

He's not going to walk from Green Bay, they just cut him to re-sign him for a better contract. Why would he walk away from the team he just won a super bowl with?

Hawk was the starting middle linebacker. Which presents us with the next issue. Can he be moved outside? If he can't then we shouldn't bring him in, espically considering JLau is just starting to hit his stride

How about money? They cut him to save money, because they can't be paying three guys starter money for two spots. So, either he could re-sign with them and be paid backup money to be a backup. OR, he could sign elsewhere for starter money and actually start.

Seems like a no brainer to me...

This is similar to the OJ situation. Hawk is a very good, but not great linebacker who was scheduled to make elite money and isn't worth it. His coverage skills are poor and while i would love to have him for reasonable money if spags thinks he can play outside, i never like the idea of moving guys around position wise at this level. I suspect someone is going to pay a lot more money than we will and there is a pretty good chance he winds up back in green bay. Boy was i dying to see this guy as a ram coming out of ohio state, but Son of Animal is a better player making a lot less money.

his coverage skills are not poor. he had 10 passes defended last season while splitting time. he is not the best weakside linebacker in the league but he is better then any weakside linebacker we have.

and i hear his wife hates greenbay. shes a hopeful tv personality, so the st. louis market might interest her. or at least an airport that can get her around the country.
