Alameda Ta'amu available... again.
Ta'amu was a guy the Rams took a look-see at prior to the draft (he was brought in for a predraft visit).
He is now available again, having first been suspended by the Steelers following a DUI arrest (in which he apparently lead police on a high speed chase), and now released.
Reclamation project, anyone?
I can certainly understand why the Rams would take a pass, but I'm somewhat intrigued. Ta'amu certainly has some talent, and the Rams could use another big body to bolster their run defense (at the right price).
I'm not going to say "yea," but I won't say "nay," either.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

I'm in....Sometimes situations like this are the wake up call a young man needs. Certainly worth trying to find out, no?

Re: Alameda Ta'amu available... again.
Probably my favorite thing about yesterday was the sitting of Jenkins/Givens and the release of Heard. Why? Because it completed the philosophy I was hoping Fisher would bring. We don't need 4 pillars, we will take a chance on you but TEAM will always come first.
So all that being said... I don't mind us taking a chance on anyone because I believe Fisher will maintain control of the locker room.

If the guy has talent then bring him in, if he turns out to be as big an idiot as his arrest suggests then cut him loose. Makes sense since they just cut Heard.

Re: Alameda Ta'amu available... again.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have released rookie defensive tackle Alameda Ta'amu, according to from Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports.
Ta'amu, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2012 Draft after playing his college ball with the Washington Huskies, was arrested last month for a drunken-driving tirade that involved police evasion. After crashing into four park vehicles, Ta'amu attempted to flee police before eventually being taken down in a nearby area.
He was suspended immediately by the Steelers and has yet to play this season.
Ta'amu will now have to find a new team to play for, and it seems likely he will not find a suitor until his criminal case is settled in court. Ta'amu is currently facing a combination of 18 felony, misdemeanor and summary citations, according to this report from ESPN.
The 22-year-old lineman has since apologized for his actions. The Steelers are yet to officially release a statement, although one could come soon.

Im of the mindset like you Av. If we take a shot cool I'd love to see what the big man can do, I was personally a fan heading into the draft. If we don't take a shot, whatever.

Re: Alameda Ta'amu available... again.
I'm fine with taking a chance on him. He doesn't appear to have had other past incidents and I don't think he'll be allowed to drive a car again for a while with all those charges hes facing. Also, so many guys in the NFL have DUI's now that its hard to keep track of them so I don't think this is a reason to completely write him off.

Re: Alameda Ta'amu available... again.
And I respectfully disagree with your respectful disagreement. Who says Jenkins would not have been drafted under DeSpags? The fans who consistently misapply the 4 Pillars term? Or the 4 Pillars front office that did draft Robert Quinn, Mardy Gilyard, and George Selvie, even with off-field indiscretions?
If DeSpags didn't draft Jenkins it wouldn't have been because he wasn't a choir boy; it would have been because DeSpags was not very good at finding talent."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod
