    Alex Brown DE

When coach Lovie Smith announced at the owners meeting that Israel Idonije was moving to defensive end, he signaled the Bears were jumping into the trade market

That means Alex Brown could be had.

He is a legit starting DE. I can't imagine the bears wanting a high pick for him.

I think Long and Brown could be a strong front for the Rams.

We should look into this before a proactive team like the Lions get him too..

Would be a pretty good deal. Depending on what the Bears want for him, we could shore up our DEs and be able to give our draft picks more versatility.

Its thought if he isnt traded that he will be released, which is probably when the Rams would take a long look at him

i would trade next years 6th or 7th round pick if that.

he will be released for sure if they dont have any takers he also has a big contract 5 million per year which must be concerning for the rams.

If we can wait till they release him, his contract is for not, which is what other teams are doing for OJ if we cant get something done by June 1rst.
I agree tho, he would help us in a much needed department, hes no stud but would be good on our line for sure.

    Re: Alex Brown DE

The Chicago Tribune reports the Bears are "working actively to deal" DE Alex Brown.

Julius Peppers is taking Brown's right end spot, and the team is moving Israel Idonije from tackle to end. With Peppers set to play the majority of snaps, there isn't enough playing time for both Brown and Mark Anderson in a rotation. Due $5 million in each of the next two years, Brown is expected to be released if the Bears don't find a taker. He's averaged six sacks per season since 2003, and should at least be able to fetch a late-round pick. Mar. 26 - 9:23 am et

    Re: Alex Brown DE

He'll be 31 by the start of the season and averages about 6 sacks a season, so I wouldn't give up much. If he is released, though, he would be a good addition to the rotation at the right price. I'd be looking to give him a contract comparable to James Hall's.

    Re: Alex Brown DE

He is slightly above average IMO. He is not great but would be enough of a stop gap along with Hall that we might be able to address other needs in the first four rounds. Such as QB, TE, OLB, WR, RB, CB, and possibly DT. I want Suh #1 but barring us getting McNabb right now I don't see us drafting Suh. If we don't go DT with the #1 pick I would not take a DT in the following rounds. In fact I really am not crazy about DT or QB between rounds 2-4. I would rather fill the other needs.

    Re: Alex Brown DE

Ok...they Rams have been overly quiet and conservative in their free agent off-season and it has been somewhat understandable.

Today, it seems Alex Brown will be released.

This guy is a legit NFL starting DE that fits our system.

We should trade a 7th or sign him ASAP.

He still has enough talent and youth to make a difference.

For some reason, I have watched this guy from college and I think he fits in perfect.

So, we have been patient for waiting for something like this....

We should be Brown's first Suitors -- as long as he wants to be here -- he should...

lets get him -- and quickly

He would be a nice addition. He's a decent pass rusher, and probably would not be too expensive. I'd give him a look.

Yeah, I remember the draft when Alex was still available at the latter part of the 3rd round. The Rams were on the board and I was hoping against hope that they would pick Brown. Alas, it was not to be. You see we picked up this running QB that was projected to morph into a quality WR.

Yep, you guessed it, Martz and clowns selected Eric Crouch over Alex Brown.

Let's get it right this time and sign Alex before some other team does.

    WHAT SAY YE?
