Re: Alshon Jeffery Pro Day Update
Jeffery has done everything to get back into shape.....
Interviews and interactions with scouts going to be key for his draft status....
He is the real wildcard of the draft could go anywhere from Round 2 to Round 5

Re: Alshon Jeffery Pro Day Update
Wow those are pretty good workout numbers... I wouldn't mind snagging him in the early 2nd or hopefully we trade down to get him if blackmon isn't there

Re: Alshon Jeffery Pro Day Update
ESPN IS REPORTING 4.38 AND SUCH....
Most reports have scouts reading a more offical 4.48 .....
Either way you can see his weight is way down and he looks really good to the "eyeball test" and said mostly good things about being in better shape and wanted to perform well for NFL teams to take him seriously

Re: Alshon Jeffery Pro Day Update
This is what makes Jeffrey such a frustrating player.
In 2010, he put up monster numbers, and looked like a future Top 10 pick.
Then, he shows up at the start of 2011 with a beer gut, and puts up rather pedestrian numbers.
Now, he (unofficially) has a great Pro Day workout.
I think Jeffrey has the potential to be a very good player, but I'd be very worried if the Rams take him that he'll collect his money and then show up at training camp looking like Homer Simpson. Its this fear that caused me to take him off my draft board.
If the Rams due diligence reaches a different conclusion and they select him in Round 2, I'll have high hopes, but I'll be worried.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Alshon Jeffery Pro Day Update
I agree, i'll leave it to the Rams brass to make the call on him. Only thing i can argue is, Fisher was the only guy who could get Haynesworth to work and play hard, while no other team or coach could, not even Bellicheat could. So im hopefull he could do the same with Jeffery. I think spending the #39 on a high rick/high reward player of Jeffery's calibur might be worth it.

Re: Alshon Jeffery Pro Day Update
Man, its hard to get an "official" word:
Here's what I'm reading about the 40 time on Twitter:
Tony Pauline: 4.54 and 4.47
ProFootballTalk: 4.4-4.5 range
Corey Miller (SC sports radio personality): 4.52 "official"
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Alshon Jeffery Pro Day Update
Tony Pauline and rotoworld's write up:
South Carolina WR Alshon Jeffery ran forty times of 4.47 and 4.54 at the school's Wednesday Pro Day.
These are fantastic times for the heavily scrutinized receiver, who weighed in at 213 pounds, three pounds lighter than at the Combine. Jeffery certainly dedicated himself during postseason work, but admitted that he has not been this light since high school. We expect Jeffery to be an early-second round selection with a chance at cracking into the top-32.

Re: Alshon Jeffery Pro Day Update
Him showing up at that weight is pointless. He has no tape of him playing at 210, and its completely not his game. He's not a burner, and he can't be. Its not like he just turned into Torrey Smith, not happening. He's a big receiver who uses his size to dominate smaller cornerbacks.
His problems are related to separation (which aren't necessarily related to speed) and he's not going to create separation more consistently at that weight. He should have weighed in at 225 and just tried to run a 4.5. That's the weight teams will draft him to play at. He went too far in the other direction.
Look at videos of him in 2010 compared to 2011. In the bowl game it looked like he was wearing a peewee jersey. In 2010 he looked more fit, and played at a much better speed (probably 4.50-4.55). If he has any success in the NFL, it will be him playing between 220 and 225. He needs to properly manage his weight to give him adequate game speed, so his size and strength are maximized. His off-season has been strange, and I have no idea why he and his agent decided he should weigh 15 pounds less than he ever played at. I would only look at him, period, if we didn't get Blackmon. His game wouldn't compliment Blackmon, where Jenkins or Hilton would.
