Amobi Okoye

The rams could use him at DT. Very good player and only 19 years old. What do you guys think?

Re: Amobi Okoye

Right now he's one of the top options at the 13th pick of likely available players, IMO.

Re: Amobi Okoye

He is a bit raw but he could be a good pick,

The problem is that the Rams have been terrible at picking DT talent in the draft amd most of the time it takes a year or two for a DT to hit stride and it might be even longer for Okoye because he is so young.

I don't understand the point you're trying to make though. Pointing out a past history of not making good personnel decisions on a certain position would be a fine way of addressing someone who asks whether or not we should draft that position in round one. But we're talking about a specific guy here. Does Okoye somehow become a lesser prospect if the Rams pick him?

No he doesn't become less of a prospect, what I should have said is that DT is a dangerous position to pick. I think it has the highest rate of busting of any position.

DT is always a dangerous pick.

Re: Amobi Okoye

i hope we dont end up with Haslett picking another Jonathan Sullivan. He traded two first rounders to get him, and he was the biggest bust in recent years.

Re: Amobi Okoye

Wow, 19 years old and graduating!! I think that I heard about his story on one of the college broadcasts. Very sharp guy academically and motivated to improve his family's life if he is the one that I heard about. If this is so, then he is mature beyond his years and could be a good pick-up.

It makes me think of Tamba Hali, and he turned out pretty well for the Chiefs.

Re: Amobi Okoye

I still would rather trade up and grab a guy like Branch. I fear that the lack of height will hurt Okoye.
