Any Successful RDT/LDT Tandems Out There?
Our pick at number two this year depends heavily upon who Miami selects at number one. We all know that. My first choice has been Chris Long. But, there is a good chance that Miami takes him.
That leaves Dorsey as a very likely option for us. But, as has been poiinted out many times, Dorsey is an UT. Same as Carriker. It is not a position of need. Unless, you put Dorsey in the starting line up next to Carriker. Ryan, a 5th rounder last year, then becomes a solid, quality depth player.
The question is this, have there been any teams that you can think of that have ever successfully ran a RDT/LDT tandem full time. Is that even conceivable as an option for us. If so, all of a sudden it doesn't matter so much who Miami selects. If not, then what?Last edited by viper; -02-24-2008 at 02:36 PM.

Most Tampa-2 teams will run a LR interior, but it makes me nervous having two interior rushers without a large bodied MLB to take on blockers.

the Jags but those guys are a little bit bigger. It would not surprise me is Carriker puts on some more weight, he is 6-6.

I don't know...I would honestly rather get a DE (even if Long is gone) before we get Dorsey...I just think Ryan can be the face of the Dline as well as the other starters.

Jags are more of a NT, NT combo they are both huge and could both be NT and verry successful. An UT, UT combo would be interesting good pass rush don't how it would work though

I used those terms to clarify that the question was referring to two under tackles, meaning no nose tackle.
It doesn't sound like that has been a proven defensive scheme. Which means if C. Long is off the board when we pick, we won't be able to address what is arguably our biggest need in the 1st round, unless we take Gholston at no. 2, or trade down for him."...and a great new warrior emerged from the many, to carry the torch, and his name was Rammin' Jackson...and a new era had begun!
